If my addition is correct, I worked 99 extra hours in September. That should help repay ourselves!
On the other hand, having been over eating for the last week or so (and nice colleague brought takeaways so I have been eating pizza at odd hours of the night), I have now turned to spending. £8.50 today... starting with the purchase of a book on weight loss.At least it was from a charity shop, but that's where I saw the CDs I also bought...
Off to work again in half an hour, then that's it for a while. Till Saturday, I think. Just time to try to get my act together regarding That Birthday.Miggy

Wow Miggy. 99 overtime hours in one month is huge! Well done for getting through the other side of that.
I think you eraned that book and the CD's. Have to have some pleasure from all that work.
Good luck getting things sorted for That Birthday.0 -
Turns out my maths was wrong! It was 65.5 hours, not 99, so I'm supposing I pressed the wrong button on the calculator (though I can't work out which one). Still - plenty of overtime even if a third less than I'd thought.
Nothing spent today, yet. However, now I've woken up I need to get down to the shops and out to visit Mum so that won't last.Miggy

A really beautiful day for a birthday.
So far DD coming home has managed to be kept a secret: easier because DS2 and I can keep referring to DS1 coming back from holiday as a reason not to do things till later, e.g. opening presents from family, eating the rest of the croissants!
DH has been persuaded to go out for lunch with me so I have three and a half hours to make a cake and nip down to the shops for nibbles that I couldn't carry yesterday.Miggy

Successful birthday so far.
DH went to work in the morning, then took the rest of the day off and we went out for lunch. Not MS but absolutely delicious. I dithered over drinking my coffee as long as possible as DD was texting where she had reached in her travels, but in the end gave up and we went for a walk to get rid of some of the calories! Of course as soon as we set off I got THE text, so I turned to DH and asked if we could pick DD up from the station. He was delighted so we spent the rest of the afternoon with her, apart from DD and me going food shopping yet again. Not MS, I know, though she will probably end up living off leftovers for a while.
The others, plus GB, are now happily watching a gory film while we wait to see how long it will take the rest of the BP to reach us from Gatwick.
One of those odd days where on the surface things are going well and underneath I'm not coping too well. I'm putting it down to pressure (self imposed? Society-imposed?) and hoping a good night's sleep and some vitamins will help.Miggy

That was such a good evening. The others arrived a bit before nine, more food was eaten and presents opened, and there was lots of buzz as the youngsters caught up on each other's news and we all poured over the photos DS1 had compiled for his Dad.
I'm working in the morning. Right now I feel this job isn't doing me any good: I need something that affirms me and something that doesn't steal my weekends while leaving me on my ownsome through the week.
I wonder if there's a legal limit to how much garlic bread a person can eat before going to work...?Miggy

Work is obviously sufficiently desperate to allow garlic eaters... why am I working in that place? I'm not particularly a target at the moment, so long as I watch my back especially when certain people are on shift with or after me. As to why I'm still there: I know we would struggle without the money. Also if I can just hang on till I get my NVQ3 (which has gone missing) then I will have another portable qualification.
I had a look in a few places and there are some similar jobs going: the problem is that agencies pay less than I'm getting now and the work is often harder to get to, and while there are a couple of nice-sounding job in neighbouring towns, the hours in one are too short to make it viable. I might look into the other a bit more closely.
I have this week off: up till the weekend. Yes, another weekend claimed by work! This is my main presenting problem with it at the moment. Someone actually said to me in church yesterday that they hadn't seen me around for a while though DH had been there! This is someone I've known for many years and who made a point of expressing concern. Must be bad if other people notice!
It's been lovely to have the house full of the BP all weekend but of course DD is now back at Uni and the others are at work and school. I did manage to get most of the party food finished, thought there are still a couple of fattening dips in the fridge. We gave DD a fiver to make sure she got a cab once she arrived. She's also asked if we can pay for something she wants to do at Uni which will cost £100+ so we're having a think about it. We may meet her part way on it. I've said I need to see her taking good care of her money, not spending so much on clothes. She can't resist the 'student discounts' - the downside of an eye for a bargain, I suppose. To her credit she is taking most of the latest splurge back. :rotfl: She wants some Ugg boots too and is thinking about getting some. I know the real thing is expensive but she says they will last better than the cheap imitations. However, if she spends the money on that, she won't have it for other things and really and truly... well... I've survived all these years without a pair of real Ugg boots, haven't I? :rotfl:
Today I am in danger of getting almost nothing done, largely because SF is sick and showing her age more.Time I put the washing on the line (the murky mist of the morning having lifted) and visited Mum.

Neither of which I've yet done.
I just had a call from work: my line manager offering me a shift change which I'd requested so hopefully I can go to something I really wanted to get to on a Saturday. She is also going to look into whether my shift pattern can be changed as she agrees I've been doing a lot of the same shifts.Miggy

That's great news on the shifts Miggy. I hope they come through for you.
You definitely don't sound your normal cheery self so I hope there's nothing serious going on. You know you have lots of anonymous ears on here though if you ever want to really vent. My PM box is always on call for you!
The party sounds like such a lovely event. Well done all of you for pulling that off so successfully.0
