No not yet. I wasn't sure what the correct course of action to take is. I have so far told them to chase it up with the credit card company as they have sent me money without me asking them to and for months haven't told me why I owe them. I said they can request something like a chargeback from the credit card company. I don't want to pay them and then they go and claim off the credit card company later anyway.

    Care to elaborate on this?

    pento,

I think your opening post is misleading. It should read like this:

"Guys, this company gave me too much money, how do I avoid paying it back?".

Telling them to ask the credit card company is just ridiculous, and you know it's only making matters harder for them. Just pay them, and stop making bullshi* excuses for problems that don't even exist (e.g. they will charge you back at a later date....rubbish).

You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride

You appear to be treating this as some form of unsolicited goods which it most clearly is not (and even if it was you wouldn't be entitled to keep it).

You were mistakenly given some money.
You state that you were unaware of this until Very brought it to your attention.
Very have now asked for it back, and you have refused.

At which point did you feel that you didn't have to pay it back?
As Very is a form of credit which you willingly agreed to accept, you should expect that non payment will result in exactly that being recorded against your credit profile.
Do you think that a chargeback against your card provider is not going to result in the same thing happening as well?

You are either incredibly naive, or incredibly stupid and arrogant.

If the former, I suggest you distance yourself from any further form of credit (although I suspect your failure to comply may already have done that anyway) until you grasp the mettle of what it is you're dealing with.

If the latter, then I hope that you end up with some form of court order, as that appears to be the only thing that will jolt you back to reality.

I think the best thing to do is pay up and be clear of debt with them before this escalates.

Well I didn't accept any form of credit. I paid with a credit card. I explicitly requested to pay by card and not set up any sort of credit account.

    I'm going to pay it.

I only came on this forum to see what people could advise as I feel they have messed up my credit score. They paid me money then requested payment for an item which I had already paid for. It was never mentioned at any point that they were chasing me for the accidental refund. They always demanded money for the item which I had already paid for. Hence, it has taken so long to resolve because the incompetent staff had no idea what was going on.

Anyway, its funny how rude and aggressive some of the people on this forum can be.

Also, can I ask for any compensation?
After that question your credibility plummeted to below zero...what do you expect?

Even more 'funny' how ridiculous and compensation minded others can be.

Hang on a minute. If you paid by credit card, how can Very be mucking about with your credit rating?

I paid by card and they refunded to card. But are now charging for the item to a credit account with themselves. I never asked for a credit account with them, I paid with a credit card in the first place to avoid their credit service.
