Very.co.uk given me too much refund

Hi, I ordered an item from very.co.uk a while back. The item went missing and never arrived. They refunded my money and then dispatched a replacement item soon enough after I called them. I received the item and was charged a second time for it. They kept sending me bills requesting payment so I called and explained that I had already paid for it so stop hassling me. But the person made a mistake and sent me a refund instead of just clearing it off their system.
Now they are chasing me for the money. I've been calling them for months asking why they are sending me bills as I've paid for it and each time I get the usual "computer says you owe us, but hold on a sec you've paid for it, i'll get it sorted for you no worries". A week later I get another letter and phone calls. Only now they admit they made a mistake and refunded me money for no reason even when I never sent the item back.
Do I legally owe them the money? The way I see it they have just sent me money/refunded me for no reason and they should chase the credit card company to sort it out.
Also, can I ask for any compensation? I've had to call their 0844 number many times to tell them to stop billing me and it costs 5-10p a minute and I'm usually on the phone for ages. It's a mistake they have made not me.

Of course you owe them the money, it was never yours in the first place.
Why do people even feel the need to ask such silly questions?Gone ... or have I?0 -

How did you pay for the replacement?0 -
Having a quick look at the OP's other posts they appear to want everything for nothing. Methinks they need to grow up.Gone ... or have I?0

Well thanks to their actions my credit score has been negatively affected. Shouldn't I be compensated in any way? I paid when I was asked to and am happy to pay for the item in question. However, I'm fairly disappointed about the amount of my time they have wasted and now my credit score.0 -

You are messing up your credit rating by not paying what you owe.Gone ... or have I?0 -
I had paid what I owed. They refunded me by mistake without telling me, I never saw this refund come back to me. Only after months of me calling them have they told me what the situation truly is. My credit score is affected because of them not me. Each time I called to enquire what I am being billed for I was told the bill is a mistake and that I don't owe them anything.0

Have you paid them now?
No not yet. I wasn't sure what the correct course of action to take is. I have so far told them to chase it up with the credit card company as they have sent me money without me asking them to and for months haven't told me why I owe them. I said they can request something like a chargeback from the credit card company. I don't want to pay them and then they go and claim off the credit card company later anyway.0
