cheapest broadband

ok basically im a student moving into a student house, i doubt very much that we actually need a phone so i dont want to pay 11 quid to bt for the line rental if i dont have to we just need broadband,, ntl does go to that area, what is the cheapest way to do it

    Well, there is only one answer .. NTL :) The only other ISP on cable is AOL but I've no idea if they'll even take a new customer. Depending on what package you required, the cheapest is I think around £18 for 1Meg (£9 for the first 3 months ..) and the 2Meg upgrade is inline too.

    edit scratch thatit seems that they are a joke of a company when it comes down to it
  • The best way with NTL (we've just done it) is to sign up for say the 4mbit package at £25/month then after a week phone up say you're still in the trial period and want to cancel. They'll ask why - tell them that SKY broadband are doing 16mbit for £10/month which is a much better deal. We ended up with them giving us £10/month for 10mbit and £55 credited to our account for a wireless router - so basically works out as internet for the year for £65 or just over £5 a month. Give it a try.
