Wow! They gave you a really hard time on this thread. Just for the record I consider that he ripped her off.

I bought a similar system more than three years ago, which was being discontinued by Woolworths at the time, for £250.

Perhaps he sold her some really expensive software with the deal.

I'm not even sure that he sold her a new system. £89 to put a RAM module in a PC after charging the OP such a ridiculous sum for a low spec computer is shameful.

I am in no doubt that this business should be named and shamed.

Unfortunately one man bands who work with computers and microchips all day tend not to be experts in customer service or dealing with people. This is obviously a trade off you have to make if you decide to do business with this sort of company.

More than likely, but to be fair, he's in the computer business, he's not in the business of making people into savvy shoppers. We all have to be responsible for our own decisions. The OP runs her own business and is far from stupid, if she knew nothing about what she was buying she should have sought advice.

I'm not defending him mind, just pointing out you can lead a horse to water etc etc....

  • CODSWALLOP.

My local PC man built mine and after minor tweaks in the first week works fine.

The requirement I put on him was I do a lot of video work, on files between 10-15 GB, 2 at a time.

I has no complaints about him and we are looking to buy a second suite for around the same price. £3,000!

I think you completely misunderstood my complaint on this thread, but hey ho.

When someone comes to me knowing nothing about kitchens, or windows, or flooring, I would not just quote them a ridiculous sum and then expect them to do their own research about whether it is a decent price or not.

I would also not just ignore them when they complained. I would most definitely have refunded the £89 and probably offered to go back and have another look as well, but maybe I am just better at customer service than he is! I have recently sorted out a broken kitchen cupboard door for a customer that we did the work for 2 years ago, because she is a repeat customer and I felt that the problem should not have happened and I wanted her to be a happy customer!

I cant imagine he will be in business for long if he carries on like he is.

No I didn't, my latest post had nothing to do with your original complaint......I was replying to Donnie's point about you being ripped off with regards to what you paid.

  • I wrote to him last week and suggested that he could have kept everyone happy by refunding me my £89 [for the recent upgrade] and offering to find me a decent computer at a discounted rate (therefore everyone happy) - he then wrote back with the following:

    "Hello,

In accordance with the 1979 Sale of Goods Act (amended 1/10/2003 et al.) refunds cannot be issued for goods/services when more than 7 days has passed or 30 days for remote (internet/telephone) sales.

    Regards "

???? !!!!!!???? I simply do not understand how someone cannot want to keep a customer happy?? I have written to him now to say that if money is that important to him then he can keep it! what a sad little man.

    Is it just me?
    Yes, it's you.

Sorry but you've pretty much just accepted the thing for 3 years albeit with a grumble now and then. You should have rejected it as soon as you realised it didn't fit your stated requirements.

LIBAD it's blatently obvious that you and I are simply not on the same wave level at all. :D

Maybe we should just wave at each other in the passing from now on? :D

    OP can i ask

In the three years that you have had and used this pc.
    Have you maintained it?

How often did you defrag the machine.
Excel sheets are not huge in comparing to someone who takes lots of pictures.

Over time a machine will slow down, but as the user you need to know how to keep it clean etc.
