I'm depressed, have problems getting out of bed/dressed/washed due to low motivation & i'm not a teenager so I don't think you can say that is just normal teenage behaviour.

The thought that my 4 children might not have a roof over their heads or get fed used to motivate me to get up, wash, iron, cook clean and go to work.

Our generous benefit system causes as many problems as it helps I fear.

i am sure you wake up every morning and thank god you were healthy enough to provide for your 4 children and none of them thankfully were as ill as the poor lady's daughter in the op.

I do indeed. Problem for the OP and her daughter as she is perhaps now being assessed as an adult rather than as a child.

And once again I do wonder what difference money is going to make. If the cash is used for therapy then fine.

It actually makes a lot of difference.

What actually is your problem with people receiving DLA, KK?

My son got turned down for dla, despite him having exactly the same problems he had when it got paid out the previous two years. No change.

I went to welfare rights, and I'm still awaiting a tribunal date. (Claim received by DLA on 16th November) Tribunal date estimated to be around sept/oct, so only a years wait.

I think part of the money is being used for therapy as the op states:

i dont even keep dd money some of it does go to paying the car which i need for her an the rest to her but with out this money i cant bribe her out in to the world to spend it on herself try to make her feel better

I think we need to look at the broader picture, i presume the op is fulltime carer to her DD ( i realise i may be wrong) how would this poor girl cope with life if it weren't for her mum. I am positive her mum would rather be woken at night from her daughter creeping in from a night on the town a little worse for wear than creeping around the house looking for ways to harm herself.
So if the "tax payer" (which is not an elite group who proclaim to have being fortune enough to have worked all their life, its EVERYONE of us) doesn't pay for her mum to take care of her she will end up in hospital which will cost a hell of alot more than the £70.00 per week she should get in DLA.

I think thi is what some people are forgetting - it's cheaper to give disabled people DLA / AA than put them into a home and give them care that way.

Do you honestly think everyone turned down for DLA/AA has to be looked after in a home?

I feel for the OP, it must be dreadful living with a much loved daughter with these problems. However I do think this sort of decision will be made more frequently when renewals come due. I fear that the whittling down of numbers of people who will need medicals in 2013 has already begun.

why oh why do you come to disability and dosh.
your NOT disabled in any way, shape or form.
all you do is criticise anyone who is disabled.
the money not coming out of your pocket.
silver surfers more suited to your needs, though doubt even they wont put up with you, picking fights all the time.
