But does the missing rib restrict movement and cause constant pain?
Yes he has other problems but until he had xrays for something else we and our GP treated it as normal muscle/skeletal pain, the bowel issues are apparently caused by his lost rib/extra neck bone but pre xray he had the camera up/down and no one could explain his symptoms, now they are explained and treated as they should be.
He has a couple of other problems that are now explained but it all dint hinder him enough to stop him working with pain killers till he was 50.0 -

My son is 15 & still has a year left at school so obviously he doesn't work.
He isn't allowed to play contact sports as the slightest knock could potentially leave him paralized.
Despite this he attends army cadets regularly & wants to join the army to serve his country.
My son will be doing A levels at collage once he leaves school then will be going to University as he is very intelligent.
I hav no worries about him as I know he will be able to get a good job & contribute positively to society.
You may read what I post, personally I think you just skim through & pick at the bits you find fault with & ignore the parts that disprove what you say.
My younger son is the one that might not be able to work but as he is only 13 & has 2 years left at school yet i'm not writing him off.
If my kids want to claim DLA when they leave school it is completely upto them & they are perfectly entitled to it.I'd rather regret the things I've done than regret the things I haven't done.

These two statements appear to be at odds with each other. Or does the Army have a special cotton wool troop he could join?0 -

As sh has already mentioned he isn't able to join the army due to his Klippel Feil.
He has accepted that fact for the moment & seems eager to go on to further education although he doesn't know what else he want's to do career wise.
He will be taking Maths & Sciences for his A levels and maybe Art as they are the subjects he is best at & enjoys the most
(typical aspie
). I'd rather regret the things I've done than regret the things I haven't done.

Apparently people with adhd can join the Army but they have to of been off their medication for 5 years.
It's such a shame for him & my son as he had his heart set on joining but I do understand the reasons why (safety must come first).
I'm worried that my son might decide to fail to disclose his medical problems & try to join anyway. :eek:I'd rather regret the things I've done than regret the things I haven't done.

Not strictly true, he can join the forces as long as he is off his medication for three years.when_will_it_end wrote: »my friends son has adhd an is on ritalin he goes to cadets but he knows he cant join the army doesnt stop him enjoying the cadets experience it brings disapline to his life*SIGH*
