^^ Dunno, been told different things by different people... Which is why I say "I believe", because it makes sense in a real emergency :/

I'd hate to be the Officer in charge of a Fire engine making the decision on a "real emergency" They are all real to the people concerned.
I think you've been told a bit of folklore, anytime this arose in my time, the crew of four or five firemen plus passersby have physically "Bumped" the vehicle out of the way. A bit difficult with HGVs though.
That's if 10 seconds sitting there with 2 tone horns blaring failed to bring the car owner running to move it!
This is an open forum, anyone can post and I just did !

I know in the USA they are allowed to damage a vehicle if it is restricting access to a fire hydrant (typically they run the hose through the car windows...)

In the UK i've only ever seen them bump cars out of the way (as per bryanb) but i wonder what the liability for damage on that would be?

I doubt very much a fireengine could push a HGV out of the way anyway?

If a parked car obstructs emergency vehicles thought they could be in for a very rough ride as I believe they're allowed to literally ram obstructing vehicles out of the way.
If only that were true :D
That would be pretty spectacular to watch!

On motorways, I think they should be allowed "move" middle lane drivers onto the left hand lane or hard shoulder too....... :p

Always go by the highway code..... Just because you don't like something doesn't make it illegal.

Like this idiot I encountered last weekend.

After explaining this to the offending individuals, they might actually change their habits.

Thats pretty good quality footage, how much was that camera again? How long can it film for?
The Focus driver was a tool and was more interested in stopping you overtaking him and pointing out your maneuvre(which seemed totally fine to me) than watching how close he was getting to the Morris.

^^ it's a Mini DV camera from ebay, £15 (delivered from china) + 8G memory card which was £10 from Amazon... Records for 1 hour and has a rechargable lithium cell built in which charges from the USB port on your PC.

Usefull for a witness incase of an accident, but I intend to keep naming and shaming bad drivers with it....

Especially commercial vehicles and van's etc.... When people search for a companies name and Google brings up a video in the search results, it won't look good on them or the driver ;)
Pro-active and somewhat controversial, but the sooner the lunatics realise that there are people out there with video camera's, the safer our roads will become!

Since it hasn't been mentioned yet, regarding the OPs situation, if this is a residential road that doesn't really go anywhere and/or doesn't see through traffic then the simple rule of don't take the P applies. Does your parking make life awkward for others using the junction? Is your parking strictly illegal? If the answer to both of those questions is no then park away.

Also nice to see I'm not the only person doing the in car camera thing. Though I'm just using a mobile phone for now [video]. No morons in my vid, except for that van driver cutting the blind corner near the start.

Might be an idea to invest in a better method (ie a non communication device) before someone catches you touching it whilst driving.

^^ Indeed, while I have great respect for the inventiveness... There are hidden dangers, the police being one and theft being the other.

My camera is 1 x 1.5 inches and clips to the passenger headrest, I don't have to worry (security) about leaving it in the car accidentally because nobody would see it.... And even is they did see it, it looks like nothing important.
