Interestingly someone at work spoke about renting problems today and I asked who her landlords were. We are in Scotland and her rental agreement with IRD has a clause that she cannot move out between October and end December as it would be too hard to relet! I am sure this is wrong. They also increased her rent from £650 to £950! She got them to agree to £750 but knows they will up it again soon. I advised her that I am sure a tenancy officer can set a fair rent. Am I correct with this for Scotland?

    See the PRHP site

This is a Scottish Government site.

You can call them up as well as ask the council (your local council should have a private sector office that can help)

On a side note- the landlord MUST have an electrical check (and mains powered smoke detectors) by 1st December 2016 for existing tenants, have a look at the other part of the PRHP site

IANAL, but I'd be looking to play it to my advantage.

If a mobile contract tries to increase unfairly (which surely cannot be a parallel here as IRD are such a great bunch), then I understand you have the right to give notice to cancel your contract and not have the increase. If it worked the same here, I'd be looking to not increase my rent which would mean I have to leave before the end of December...?

However of course, you must be writing about another company as IRD are great.

In the last week I haven't thought about Mr Sunil Dhown and IRD Homes once.

I must make more of an effort in future

In this I have been found to be lacking ....:embarasse

Sunhil Dhown, me old mucker! How are you doing these days? Still in the rental property business with IRD Homes. I hear you're all over the internet like a rash. Good on yer. The more people who know about you and your splendid property company IRD Homes the better IMO.

  • I have seen on a property review site that IRD Homes has a "0% recommendation" and is currently rated "13402 out of 14987 companies".

MSE is currently second in the "IRD Homes reviews" search on Google.

Only second? That can't be right! We've all been right behind Sunhil Dhown and his very well known Lettings Agency called IRD Homes. He surely deserves for MSE to be placed first in the search listings for IRD Homes Lettings Agency.

But right now it's nowhere the top on a search for IRD homes. Perhaps this link will help more people learn about how great IRD homes are.

It seems no one lately has wanted to share their stories of how great Mr Sunil Dhown and IRD Homes are. Which seems odd, as there must be so many satisfied customers wanting to shout it from the rooftops.

Perhaps they just needed reminding of this thread, where they can share their stories.
