Clothes washed when dirty and either dried outside or on airer.

Line outside if its dry/ warm enough
Clothes horse if its warm inside
Radiators when its cold and they are switched on
Large sheets etc get hung over the bannister and always seem to be dry really quickly.
In our old place we had a washer dryer. We only really used the dryer for underwear. I worry about it ruining my clothes.0 -
I dry outside if at all possible. But if it rains then I have some old clothes horses that I put up in front of radiators.
Sheets I hang over doors, Ok the house doesn't look pretty but I'm not houseproud! Or you can put two clothes horses a few feet apart and drape.
Ironing....? I'm soooo glad I'm not the only one that would struggle to recognise an Iron at 2 paces.
Won't have a tumble dryer especially as SD has moved in and so it would be on ALL the time...0 -
i have one of those old fashioned wooden four slat drying racks that works on pulleys attached to the roof of the garage. as the boiler is in the garage too, the clothes dry lovely in there. i also put my clothes horse outside if i've got a mountain of drying, and this works fine, if its a bit breezy i put a peg on anything light on there.
i do use the washing line on a good day, and i am lucky enough to have a huge garden. the downside is that the washing line is at the bottom of the garden, so i invested in one of those fold up canvas wheelbarrows (reduced from £19.99 to £4.97 in asda gardening a while ago) to use as a laundry basket - its ace!

They are the one thing I have not been able to dry (I am in a flat so don't have an outside line) and I keep taking them round my sister in law's to use her tumble dryer!!
Spread out over the bannister at the top of the stairs or over a door or maybe if you had a strong raid over the shower curtain rail - but mine would probably fall down with the extra weight. The early bird gets the worm but the second mouse gets the cheese :cool:0 -
On the line or clotheshorse. My clothes horse has 3 sides I just fill it,then the next day, refill with the rest of the load. I get on fine, (two adults here)
Used to use the tumble dryer before I discovered OS0 -
a lot of the clothes I have are "do not td" anyway - so I have turned into my mother (yet again:rolleyes: ) and hang the stuff on coat hangers and then dangle them from the bannisters over the stairwell. it would work better if the hall was fully insulated (next big job to insulate a proper 1930s stained glass door entrance) but my mum used to do it as she had a wall heater directly below the stair well. That is long gone (not allowed them on an inside wall any more - damn health and safety  ) but as we have a radiator out there I will be using that. excess goes over the radiators... have also finally brought DH 'round to the idea of a tidydry in the main bathroom - i also utilise the shower taps in the en suite for bras as I find they can dry overnight and have even dangled excess over the shower rail when the bannister was full. But I'm going to say this once, and once only, Gene. Sheets etc get hung over the banisters (where the cat promptly tries her hardest to climb up them)
I have a clippy thing for my sox and underwear which then hangs on the...
I have a line up in our leanto/conservatory/extension sort of thing and a clothes horse and everything else dries in there. Its fabby as it gets the sun and i can leave them up when it rains. Only on the odd occasion does the TD get used (its integral with the WM)0
