How do you dry your clothes?

I can't help it, I still tumble dry socks, towels and jeans as they have to be soft or I can't stand wearing them.
Anything else gets put on the clothes horse, radiator airers or line if possible. I remember my mum having one of those lines in the bathroom that you could just pull in and out when you needed it, I wonder if you can still get them?Organised people are just too lazy to look for things

Talking about drying clothes on radiators has anyone got their heating on yet or how long are you trying to keep it of for0

Mines on because my house was feeling incredibly damp with all the wet weather. The thermostat is set very low though so it only comes on when it gets chilly.Organised people are just too lazy to look for things

I try and get as much outside as i can, but especially during the winter, i use the radiators, doors and banister to get things dry!!!! i also have an airer which i leave up in the kitchen when its needed.0

Since reading Moneysaving forum I have changed. I cannot believe it, but there was a time (not so long ago I might add) that I would have the economy 7 heaters on and the gas rings on my cooker to keep warm. I've really got into this moneysaving lark and I've decided to keep my heating off until November if I can get away with it.
I can't believe reading this forum has changed me, as I always had the heating on!0 -
I love my tumble dryer as I really dtest ironing! I find that you can tumble things like shirts for work and school for a short while and then hang them up and voila no ironing required!
I do use my washing line if the weather permits but wondering if I should invest in an airer for the winter??
Hubby used to really hate all the clothes on radiators which we did for years then prob 3-4 years ago he just came home with a tumble dryer!0 -
I hang it outside if dry, then finish it off on the clothes airer on our landing overnight.
If the forecast is wet for more than a few days I try not to do any washing and then when I 'catch up' I hang the lighter items indoors on the airer during the day (dry by evening) and heavier stuff on the line...which then goes on the airer over-night to finish off.
Sounds complicated but I know what I'm doing :rotfl:0 -
I have one of those plug in oil filled rads here (storage heating here) and hang a clothes horse over that. I also put the clothes horse in front of the open fire, when thats lit.
It's not easy drying clothes and towels for 6, but we manage:rolleyes:
As for cost, I have no idea, but I know that the plug in rad uses less than the tumbledryer, as mine is one of those combi washer/dryers and it's complete C£@p:p0 -

I tried that but if it's windy the whole thing comes toppling over! I play it safe, if the washing is indoors no birds can do their business on it and I don't have to keep checking the weather.0 -
I tend to throw it all over the banister (sp?) and hope that no visitors come round :rotfl: . I have a clothes horse/outside line/radiators too if needed.
Only time I've ever had a tumble dryer was at university and I'm sure it slowly shrunk all my clothes - maybe I would reconsider if I had kids but I've enough clothes to generally leave the ones I have a day or two to dry if its cold. The early bird gets the worm but the second mouse gets the cheese :cool:0
