    Hi Clippy_girl

It's really really good. It was a pound cheaper to see it in 2D so I opted for that. Made myself a money-saving sticker in my head for doing it on the cheap!!

Evaluating film ads - what a wonderful idea! Shame they make you leave, mind you. :p

  • OMG. Went to see Toy Story 3 today. It is WONDERFUL.:j May have cried a teeny tiny bit :o

Also, Pennies, had a nightmare with the student loans people. Took about a million years to get through, then when I did, she locked me out of my account! Still, deep deep breaths.:D

We saw it last night, I cried too! :p Was great though!

That's rubbish about the student loans, I know it can sometimes take a while to get through the automated system, but in my experience they've always been really helpful. Why did she lock you out?!

    Woo, another NSD today. _party_

That makes eight this month. V proud of myself for managing not to spend. Had a bit of temptation at about 3pm, when I started getting that afternoon slump and really fancied a KitKat. But I resisted. :p

I also lost 1lb in weight last week. Not quite the dramatic weight loss I'd been hoping for, but baby steps. I've been so hungry lately though. I think it's because I know I *can't* have that KitKat that makes me want it!

Had a tough day at work today. Since I heard about my promotion, things were looking up. But today, I felt really peeved. Long story. Won't go into it here. Ugh. But it's messing with my good mood.

Also, had a thought today and wonder what to do. When I first lived by myself, only a few years ago, I bought a Kenwood Chef food mixer. Cost me £150 at the time, but saw it as an investment. I use it probably once every two months or so, so not loads. But my mum got one as a wedding present and still uses hers 30 years later, so I thought it was a really good buy. Still do, actually.

But given my parlous financial situation, I was thinking about selling it. Reckon I could make £50 or so on ebay. As a long term solution, it doesn't really work, as I reckon I'd want one again in a few years. But in the short term, it would be £50 or so that I could make, quick cash. Will go on the old school thread and see what they say.

Yay. Another NSD today. I'm almost at my target of 10 for July. Thinking of upping it to 13 for August.

Have been doing a bit of thinking and am a little teeny tiny bit stressed out, to be honest. I've been feeling great, really on target for debt spends, holiday saving and even weight loss. Things have been really on form.

But now I'm a bit worried about the targets *after* my holiday. I've got to find some money to get my 12 year old car through the MOT in early October, and then find enough to pay for Christmas. Just feel a bit under the cosh as I'm not exactly sure how to go about that.

Even in the past four weeks of doing MSE again, and filling in my diary and sorting out my life, I've really noticed how much can be trimmed from my budget if need be. And I do need to. So there will be a lot more money than I thought available (that coffee a day adds up).

But I'm not sure that I'll be able to find enough for my car. It's old and a bit rickety. Any motoring advice from folks who can help?

And although I've just had this promotion, I don't officially start the new position til early September. Had given up job hunting, but I really do need something that makes me more dough.

    Hello all,

Ridiculously spendy weekend as had a work conference and had lots of drinks with people I haven't seen in a while, which was really lovely, but really expensive. About £15 over budget for the month, but hoping to pull it back as soon as possible - have some expenses coming in which I forgot about, so hopefully that will cover it. If not, I'm screwed.

Also, my big news is that I booked my holiday last night. Off to Agadir in October and thanks to some very very detailed money saving by my other half, we've got it dirt cheap. £170 for the week, and that includes car parking at the local airport. So that's good news. :j. I only had £115 saved up, so my OH paid for the holiday and I owe him £60, so that's not too bad. Will reimburse him on next pay day.

Still, I need help to stay on the band wagon. I know what I'm like, if I get something cheap I used to see it as an excuse to spend money elsewhere, so I have to make sure that I don't do that this time!!!

Everyone else well? Happy August, by the way!

    Oh Clippy, that's a marvellous idea.:j
I've been doing surveys for IPSOS mori and am only a couple away from a £10 Boots voucher, so will go shopping with that, I think.

Could do with not eating as many cream buns though, or I'll never fit into my bikini

Also, got my quarterly bank statement today and was askanced at the amount of money I was spending prior to my LBM (no 2).

A flavour: Wagamama for lunch, Caffe Nero, Tesco, EAT (£9.48 ) Starbucks(£3.30). Disgusted with myself. Easily £30 on absolutely nothing. Blah. Feel sick just looking at it.

I suppose it's positive because there is not a snowball's chance in hell that I would ever ever spend that sort of money again. But FRIGHTENING.
