Morning all,
When will this rain go away?
I'm aiming for another no spend day today, so that will be 5 out of 10. Am hoping to tidy my house this morning and make a proper start on that massive pile of ironing, so I'm sure that will keep me occupied
.
Debated going to the next sale this morning, but decided against it. The problem I've got is that since the beginning of the year, I've put on a bit of weight and gone up a dress size. Not actually that stressed out about it, though of course, would like to shift it, but it means a v practical problem of not being able to fit into most of my size 12 work clothes.
Was going to nip over to Next and see what they've got, but decided I really can't afford it. Boo. But I think it's for the best. And it'll give me some incentive to fit into my size 12s! :rotfl:0 -
Congratulations smiler for your promotion, that's brilliant, you just never know what's around the corner do you . Maybe things will turnaround at work for you now (after your exam anyway)but I'd go for the interviews if i were shortlisted too(it's good to keep your options open). I really hope you start to enjoy it more anyway . You totally deserved the wine and ice cream and well done for only having a chicken leg when you were hung over , you could have had a macdonalds which would have cost four times as much . Your food shopping reminds me so much of mine , I'm constantly battling to stay on budget and resist treats ! If I'm over budget, I drive home thinking about all the things I bought that I shouldn't have and how much the shop would have been if I'd resisted them !
Anyway hope your week is o.k , i can't believe this rain either , i wonder if this is it now for summer0 -
Hi all!
Another NSD for me today, hurrah, so that makes 6 out of 10 for this month. Yay :j.
Feeling quite on track for a change. Most of the time, I get a bee in my bonnet about losing weight/gaining money/sorting out my life, and I pursue it for a week with extreme vigour then give up on Friday night with a bottle of wine and a chippy tea.
.
But this time round, I'm doing ok. It hasn't been plain sailing - I would have liked a few more NSD and a few less chocolate bars. But I suppose this has taught me a lesson - one or two blips doesn't mean you should give up. That's something I've been missing before and it's really comforting.
Bookwormlou - thanks for stopping by.
I love your name. I always have my nose in a book. I got book vouchers as a present back in May and am trying to keep them for when I *need* a book, because I tend to just buy them like they are going out of fashion and I never have time to read them all. But I'm reading Audrey Niffenegger's new book at the minute. It's un-put-down-able. Which is good.
It's pay day tomorrow. Well, in a couple of hours. I get to see if I get my inflation pay rise, fingers crossed, and can make a few in roads in a bit of that debt :j

Amid the horrendous thunderstorms in my part of the country, I'm actually managing to feel pretty sunny.:j
Today is pay day. Very exciting. I knew I was getting a little extra in my wages, because I had a two per cent pay rise. I worked it out as £120 extra. But by the time my pension had come off, my national insurance, tax and student loan, I only made £68 extra. A little bit gutted, cos I had great plans for that money, but hey ho.
So this morning, I paid £30 off my Natwest credit card, and £33 off an old loan I had. So £66 paid off. Woo.
I also plan to pay £100 off my barclaycard, but want to wait until I actually get the statement, because I'm scared if I pay it too early, they might want me to pay the minimum payment again!
So. My new debt total stands at £4687 - I'm really happy to have breached a hundred pound mark. £4600 sounds a lot better than £4700. And as soon as I get my statement, it'll be £4500, which will again be positive. So much easier spent than paid off though.
I also put £100 into my holiday fund. Planning to go away on a cheap deal at the beginning of October-ish. While part of me thinks I shouldn't go, I don't intend to pay for it on credit, I want to pay for it out of my own money and I'm feeling ok about that.
And my diet is going well too, so far. I just want to feel healthier and lose a few pounds before I go away. Any tips? It's too wet to go running :rotfl:0 -
Where are you thinking of going on your cheap break? Worth signing up to travelzoo and keeping an eye on their weekly top 20 deals email. Some great deals on there#5 - Save £12k in 20260

Thanks Linz
Never heard of that before! Will check it out. We were thinking of Tunisia because we've been before and you get the best of the weather there in October - south of Spain gets a bit rainy.
I've had a bit of a tough year, so I just want to put my feet up, read some good books, drink some nice wine in the sun, and learn about new things. Anywhere I can do that, I'm up for!:j0 -
Being v brief, as I have to get my bum to work in a few minutes. Paid off £100 off my Barclaycard this morning. That means I've paid off £166 off debt this month and I'm v happy about that.
But I've been feeling a bit down. It's really unhelpful actually, because it doesn't really do anything to fix it. but I can't help thinking I've got a hell of a mountain to climb. The first three weeks were actually -dare I say it - easy. But last night I had a realisation that this would have to be long term. Every day for the next year or so, until I clear my debt, is going to be like this. And I'm a little bit deflated by it.
Still, I know that's no way to think and I'm trying to remain positive. But it's hard:o0 -
Hi again,
small suggestion to perk you up a bit! - Are you signed up to Topcashback? If not, sign up (and in future anything you buy online including car insurance, buy through this site and start bagging the cashback).
You can also do car insurance quotes for Moneysupermarket once every 2 weeks for £2 a time (just think of your dream car lol and make sure you click on a retailer/insurance company at the end for the cashback to track)
There is also 65p a day worth of clicks if you run a search on 'liligo' (1 x 33p, 1 x 20p, 1 x 13p) (make sure you click out to a retailer after doing a search)
So if you add the 2 x £2 moneysupermarket money, plus 31 days of liligo, (if you did it every day) = £24.15 a month, for 5 mins effort a night. Not bad for free money! It takes about 3 months to be able to cash out but once you are at the payable stage you can withdraw whenever you want.
Worth a try?#5 - Save £12k in 20260
