Hi Smilerwoman, just wanted to wish you luck on your journey.
Sounds like you have just as an exiting day as me planned, isn't housework fun?! Not!
I am going to try and get our spare room sorted out, we have family coming to stay at the beginning of August but the room has been used as a dumping ground since we moved in last January!
Will subscribe to your thread to see how you get on

Carry cash only and have lots of NSDs and you'll get there sooner than you think." The greatest wealth is to live content with little."

Thanks If My Pennies Were Pounds! Have you got a diary? Will subscribe - mutual support the way forward!
Just cleaned out my cupboards. Basically, had everything in there - six jars of mayonnaise, a couple of bottles of almost used ketchup. The weirdest thing was vegetable suet. What that's doing in my cupboard, I do not know!0 -
Yes I do have a diary, I don't think many people are interested in it but it does help me to see where I'm spending and try to keep focussed! :rotfl:
It has the same name as my username so you should be able to find it ok!
Thanks in advance if you do drop by!

Morning Smilerwoman
Good luck with the journey!

Morning all,
Still no luck on the job front, boo. And my job still sucks. Double boo.:p
But I only spent £3 yesterday, and that was for my fruit and juice for work. I find if I buy them on a Saturday, the oranges go off really quickly. So I buy them on a Monday morning and it saves waste.
Had been aiming for a no spend day today, hopefully that will come off. In tandem with my money saving mission, I'm also on a 'lose a stone' mission. I was always a size 12, then all this stuff with work made me eat everything in sight.
So I've put on a bit of weight and think I'd like to lose it before my holiday. So for example, today I have a strong feeling I'm going to be v hungry. I'm hungry already and I've had my breakfast!
I've got to resist the urge to go to the vending machine for chocolate at about 3pm (that's my hungry time. Don't know why). So hopefully now I'll have two incentives to stop spending 1) it's a NSD and 2) I'm trying to lose weight.
Wish me luck :rotfl:0 -
Well, ain't life funny.
Went into work today, after literally months of hating my job and feeling that all my hard work has been unrecognised, to be told that I've been promoted :j
Was NOT expecting that. I'm absolutely over the moon. It's no more money just yet - I have to pass an exam first - but then it slowly rises up and by this time next year I could be on a LOT more.
Naturally, I'm a little bit freaked out, particularly as I'd been planning to leave for some time. I've decided that I'm going to stop applying for other jobs now, but if any of the jobs that I have applied for shortlist me for interview, I'm still going to go and give it a shot. I'll make a decision based on the merits of the job. I haven't forgotten how badly they treated me this year. But all in all, I'm really over the moon :rotfl:.
But I did a bad thing. I bought wine and ben and jerry's on the way home, to celebrate. It was SUPPOSED to be a no spend day today.
Feel bad as can't have one tomorrow, but I'll just be v careful and not spend v much the rest of the week.
Turns out that things aren't as bad as I thought

That's great news smilerwoman :j
I think you are allowed to celebrate getting a promotion, don't be so hard on yourself! :rotfl:VSP - £14.76 | Saving for a Deposit0 -
Oh, sobriety, why did you leave me behind last night .
It was a leaving do for one of my colleagues last night, and I was really pleased with myself because I only spent £15!
A bit delicate this morning, mind you, so had a serious need for grease and lard when I went to do my Tesco shop. Bought one of those gorgeous hot chicken leg things, but it was only 75p so I don't feel too bad.
Not had a great money saving week to be honest. After my exciting day on Tuesday, when I learnt about my promotion :j, I lost my way a bit. On Tuesday, I think I had an excuse, but then on Weds, I worked really late so didn't have time for tea before a meeting, so I had to buy takeaway on the way home. Then I didn't have time to make my lunch before work, so I had to spend money. etc etc.
It's not horrendous, because I've come in just about in my budget, so I'm not beating myself up too much. But I just need to stay focussed, perhaps you lovely peeps can help? :rotfl:
Also, I did do a money saving thing and bought my sunglasses for my holiday online. £45. Not bad.
How are you all today?0
