Is UK Unemployment Enraging You?

Is the dire unemployment situation in the UK making you feel really angry and depressed? It certainly is ME!
Yet another depressing, jobless Monday is drawing to an end, without ANY word at all from all these employers I have contacted on those utterly useless job sites.
I am trying EVERYWHERE I can, but all I am getting is mass silence. It really is making me seethe with anger, and causing me endless misery.
Please can somebody tell me what I have to do to get a job in this country, because I am rapidly losing hope as the phone stays silent, day in and day out!!!

How is this different to any of your numerous other threads?Gone ... or have I?0

I knew from the title alone whose thread this was!
OP, have you ever heard the quote “If you do what you've always done, you'll get what you've always gotten"? If you're having no luck, you need to make changes, e.g., rewrite your CV, tailor your applications, broaden your search area, change career, change your attitude...

All reasonable advice - likely from people who are employed, but the reality is that there are too many people chasing too few jobs.
Sure, you can change/adapt your CV, tailor applications etc etc...... but everyone else chasing the same job will likely have done the same.
I sympathise with Truegho, it seems that others don't.0 -

It doesn't matter how many times you re-write your CV, how much charity work you do, how many weeks you even offer to work for free for the employer so they can trial you,
theres just too many hundreds and hundreds of people chasing every single job!
very true, i've done many years of voluntarily charity work and am yet to get my first paid job since leaving uni in 1992.
i never give up though, my ambition is to get a paid job before i retire in 2035!Martin has asked me to tell you I'm about to cut the cheese, pull my finger.0 -
I found voluntary work really helped me. I did stuff that was related to the kind of job I wanted and I could see my applications getting stronger as I gained experience and had relevant examples and skills to write about.
I went from getting very few responses at the start of my hunt to my last few applications all getting interviews and two offers. I'm 100% sure that the volunteering made the difference.0 -

theres just too many hundreds and hundreds of people chasing every single job for 99% of the employers to even bothering emailing you back! :mad:0 -
I'm fortunate to have got into Uni this year, so any job I get will be a minimum wage part time job ANYWHERE! lol.
Since May I have been looking for work (before I knew about uni) had 1 actual interview, and nothing back from any others that I applied for.
I've got masses of admin and retail management experience, but nothing back from any general admin type jobs..
I had been at college this year studying (part time), so that is how I've got into uni.. so, I would advise you to expand your skills as much as you can. Most college courses will be reduced or even free if you are out of work, so getting experience and a new skill would be good.9/70lbs to lose0 -
i don't consider myself unemployed as i've been doing voluntary charity work for all those years. i love it, it's extremely rewardingMartin has asked me to tell you I'm about to cut the cheese, pull my finger.0

Yes it does. Somebody is being offered those jobs. They are just performing better at the recruitment process than you are. You can either complain and moan about it, or you can do something about it and next time, be the person who gets selected.0 -
How do you even know someone is doing better? Employers could be getting so many applications they just pick out a few at random! Everyone is assuming there is careful filtering and reading of all applications going on. I suspect there is a lot less of it than job searchers would hope for.
CV library has 40,000 ish jobs and 2.6 *million* cvs on there. Nuff said.0
