Another rec for Bobbi Brown. They have quite lovely wedding looks and will show you on a chart what to do. Plus they keep it fairly simple so you don't have to spend money on 4 different eyeshadows for example. The only other company I thought was better in terms of matching foundation, was Prescriptives, but sadly, they have closed all their retail stores :(

And if you are looking for a face primer - I'd recommend Lancome La Base Pro.
  • Hi

I can recommend the urban decay eye primer and for the face i ordered a models own from QVC (30 day money back gurantee even on make up).

Foundation totally agree that Mac really is rubbish for blemished skin, i have switched to dior and they do one that has foundation & powder built in giving more coverage without feeling heavy and costs around £28. I also use Dr Feelgood by benefit this stops more spots and provides like a smooth finish after moisturising.

Another good tip is ask each of the counters for samples of the foundation as they look different when you go out in natural light.

My daughter had her make up done by Bobbi Brown, it was a right waste of money she looked terrible. It was a Christmas gift from her brother and she waited for a special night out with her h2b to use it, poor soul took the whole lot of before she went out.

yes you can with qvc, you get 30 days to try then send back if no good!

ive bought bobbi brown, bare minerals, elemis, decleor products from qvc and theyve always been excellent!
  • chanel vitalumiere foundation is incredible! expensive but brilliant!!

the make up artists choice i love it!
  • If you have a make over at a make up counter ask whether you can leave after it is done and do the rest of your shopping or come back the following day before buying, this way you can check how it looks outside and how long it lasts for.

A girl at a Max factor counter tried some new foundation on me (I have skin so fair that No7 intelligent light foundation makes me look orange) she advised me to go out and come back later on.

The first foundation I have ever bought that looks good!

Be cheeky and ask for samples, I was looking at number 7 primer for shiny skin but mentioned it was alot of money if it turned out to be not for me - she then put some in a pot for me to take home!

  • Whilst I mix and match brands, I really like Rimmel Renew and Lift foundation, stays on really well and makes my skin feel soft. Also gives good, even coverage :) For touch ups, max factor compact facefinity foundation gives a good light finish.

Clinique cream shaper for eyes (I.e. eyeliner!) is great for definition and lasts well, for colour ones I really like the Bourjois eyeliners. Rimmel The Max mascara is a also a favourite for when I want to look made-up, also rate the Clinique one for more natural looking but can't remember the exact name of it.

I had my make-up done professionally last year as a bridesmaid and whilst their products stayed on very, very well, I did feel a bit 'baked' in it and think will do my own on the big day.
I love food, hate waste and have a penchant for sparkly things ::D

Butterfly - does the vitalumiere have a scent at all? I ask because I sometimes use Chanel's Teint Innocence and I find it has a really odd scent, which is enough to put me off buying it again.

  • I think I might invest in some good make up, I have sensitive, prone to blemishes skin. Will scour the internet for tutorials on doing my own..lol I couldnt justify spending £100 quid on someone doing my make up.
