Have you tried your local "body shop"? They'll do a trial in store with you if you ask

It's how I found the right mix and match for my normal day to day make up

    Hi

It's going back a lot of years now but I had a make over with Estee Lauder and the cost of it could be offset against any products you bought. I don't usually wear make up because of very sensitive skin and really liked the natural look I got with the Estee Lauder and had no problems with my skin.

    Hi,

I use bare escentuals, bare minerals make up. Its all natural mineral makeup and goes on like a powder but feels silky like a mouse or cream. I cant rate it highly enough. You can buy it at QVC or debenhams i think. Its absolutely brilliant stuff. All natural, so its even safe to fall asleep wearing!

The best thing ive found is the mineral veil, its a translucent powder that you dust over last thing and can reapply throughout the day, it stops your face going shiny basically, a must when everyone is photographing you all day.

Ive invested in a face kit, with the three mineral pots and brushes. Its around £40 i think.

For my eyes ive gone for Benefit, i love their mini kits and buy them when i fly from the duty free onboard, but i think you can get them at debenhams, john lewis etc. Its in browns and for the day is very natural, with just a tiny bit of brown along the eyelash base, but at night i extend the brown to create a smokey look. The kit also comes with some brightener to hide any bags under your eyes.

I am getting one of the girls at my work to do my make up.
We'll be using Estee Lauder Double wear foundation, it lasts all day and covers my spot prone skin well. Then she's using a mixture of benefit/urban decay/too faced products and she's putting false eyelashes on me. I use bare minerals or clinique most days, but I wanted to look different for my wedding and the finished result was amazing. Urban decay also have this new spray to keep your make-up lasting all day, not 100% sure about it, but I'm not taking any chances.
Boots are offering extra points when you buy any 3 premium beauty products at the moment. Estee Lauder should give you a good sized sample of foundation so you can try it over a couple of days, so may other brands.
You should try and get samples from a couple of different brands, try them at home and in natural light, see what suits you best!

    Hi,

I use the mineral primer from elf.co.uk and think its fab and much better then ones i've used before like GOSH and much cheaper too :)

I always end up buying loads from elf but there's usually a free delivery code floating about (esp if you join their facebook group)

I take it you mean http://www.eyeslipsface.co.uk/ - I went on to have a look and elf.co.uk sells computer hardware :rotfl:

Might give their primer a try for £6 - I've been thinking of trying one for ages but not sure about spending the £20+ for the MAC, Smashbox etc ones which are normally recommended.

ETA: As a recommendation, I've recently tried the Urban Decay eye primer and it's FAB...really wasn't expecting it to work but one of the girls on their counter in Debenhams tried it out on me and it really does keep your eyeshadow in place with no creasing all day.

Makeup wise I tend to use Maybelline and Bobbi Brown - Maybelline sells some excellent foundation...I use dream matt mousse
  • Is there anything better than dream matte? I love it and use it everyday as I'm fair skinned and most foundation just makes me look orange and doesn't match my skin. But with the dream matte, I do have to touch it up a couple of times a day as the 'shine' comes through after a while. Is there anything that stays put all day or am I just dreaming lol
