Accident occurs while car is being driven illegally = no pay out for you. Simple as that really.

    Not that simple.

eg Driving with no tax is driving illegally - though this wouldn't affect the payout situation.

    Any news George ?

(I'm hoping they have picked up the phone and rung the Ombudsman but knowing what they are like they are probably waiting to take on the new employee who is to handle complaints before they bother)

I would be very surprised if even 1st Central don't realise they are in the wrong and agree to pay up as when dealing with an official complaint they are obliged to investigate the matter thoroughly. If you pointed them to the Ombudsman's guidance they should take this on board however 1st Central are really rank (And a new company so may not realise the additional costs of an Ombudsman complaint) so may chose to carry on denying.

If they do I would suggest you give the Ombudsman a ring once you get the declinature letter as in clear cut cases the Ombudsman will often ring the company and tell them they are in the wrong to avoid the cost and time an Ombudsman complaint involves.

Don't forget to hit them for compensation for causing an unreasonable delay to the claim, the amounts available are on the previous links to the Ombudsman on this thread. By hitting them in their pocket they will eventually learn that their way of business is not good in the long run

Something that may cheer you up is Insurers are very heavily regulated by the FSA, they will have to declare their Official Complaints to the FSA and a very high amount may trigger further action from the FSA which is not good for them.

Don't forget to tell your friends how rank 1st Central are and hopefully you will have learnt a lesson that the cheapest is not always the best.

dacouch I have had a really hard day and really not in the mood for a debate, I have posted my views on this matter before to the OP, and have read the whole thread.

However, my advice remains unchanged as I first stated in very much detail further back in this thread.

Your insurance is invalid without a current MOT for at the time of a the accident and/or claim.

You may have your option that, thats incorrect, however I have mine.
Many insurers will request the MOT document upon any claim being made, although it doesn't always happen, if they do, it will make your claim void, end of.

Please feel free to take formal advice on the subject, read your policy small print and even contact your insurer, they will all advise you correctly.

Also, these links also clarify that without a valid current MOT test the insurance is void and null:

    http://www.honestjohn.co.uk/forum/post/?t=7605

Please pay special attention to the first link, as it clear states:

you are uninsured (a car without valid MOT automatically invalidates the insurance policy)

Will keep this succinct , NO ITS NOT!
Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?

Sassy, I'm sorry, and mean no disrespect but it's time for you to quit while you're behind. The information you are giving is inaccurate, and however well-intentioned, is not helpful to the OP.

You have stated a number of "facts" in this thread that are simply not true. Somewhere along the line you have been quite badly misinformed.

dacouch knows what he's talking about. His advice is correct, and if the OP follows it to the letter then he should see a positive result to his claim.

The links you have given are to someone's opinion. They have no basis in law.

I'm sure you are genuinely trying to help, but in this instance there are posters who are more accurately informed.
If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.

So you are telling me, that DirectGov are also wrong??

    http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Motoring/OwningAVehicle/Mot/DG_4022108

Your car insurance may also be invalid

God - the goverment really have gone to the dogs, can't get the staff these days....

Again, think you will find insurance is void and null without a current valid MOT test at the time of the accident/claim
