Lloyds TSB

I think Lloyds are very good. When I initially applied they just gave me a Classic account with visa debit card but no cheque book. Anyway after having my account about 2 months I applied for a chequebook using the self service facility on the website and got one a few days later and my credit rating has to be one of the worst but unfortunately I got into a mess with payday loans and they were taking money from my debit card, even though funds were'nt in there, god knows how that happened so I've had to move banks as on Payplan.0

These are so cheaky tried to open me a classic account up instead of the one on my application, how rude think I should complain?0

What were you trying to open?War does not determine who is right - only who is left.0
-
Did you get the classic account - if you want preapproved offers, you wont get them with a basic account.0

I've had 3 fairly long phone calls with them in the last week, sorting out transfering equity Isas, new pins for my new cards, and a problem with paying on line that was entirely my own stupidity i.e.can't read numbers accurately, and in every case had efficient and accurate help. I've been with them 24 years and never had a mistake yet.
And all dealt with in this country.0 -
only for a bills account, so not botherd about finance, loans etc0

I was just guessing, but look at it this way.
There will be no Halifax branches in Scotland (I dont think there at present as I also live in Glasgow, I think they have not gotten around to changing the signs on the branch) yopu can see from the latest June 2010 terms and condition for a Bank of Scotland Current/Reward/Ultimate Reward that they can be used at English Halifax branches to withdraw just over £1000 a day (this is the only banking you can do in England). You also cannot operate your Bank of Scotland Business Account at a Halifax branch in England, it must be a Bank of Scotland Branch in England (this was a big part of the merger Halifax had very little in the way of business banking custiomers so the merger to create HBoS also allowed business banking south of the border). There is no other mention of Halifax in that booklet.
LTSB Scotland is and always has had a separate banking license, when the branches are sold they are selling the buildings but are they selling the accounts?
if not I would guess that the account is moved to the nearest Bank of Scotland products. Ultimately, I think you will be given a choice you can keep the branch and move your account to it new buyer or your can move to Bos.
Edit: does any one have the very latest copy of the T&C's for Halifax Current A/cs, which should say what a Halifax custoemr can do at a branch in Scotland (a branch of Bank of Scotland).0 -
I received a letter from LloydsTsb in May telling me that I won't be able to access a full statement anymore from the cashpoint. (Very annoying as I used to do this regularly and keep them on file) They tell me that they have made 'improvements' which will include a 'useful summary' of my transactions, plus any interest or charges. (That's why I kept the old statements!)
This was going into operation from the 15th June. As yet I haven't received anything. Maybe within the next few days...
I know that I can go online to check but a simple printout was so much easier as I was passing the bank to go to work. I also elected previously to stop statements by mail. Does this mean that they are ignoring my wishes and adding to their (our) expenses by mailing them anyway? Not to mention more paperwork to be shredded, disposed of. Thanks for listening, just wanted to moan to someone!:)The beautiful thing about learning is nobody can take it away from you.
Thanks to everyone who contributes to this wonderful forum. I'm very grateful for the guidance and friendliness that I always receive from you.
