We've got a Sky+ HD box, but can't afford to have multiroom.
If I run a coax cable from the box to a TV in another room, will I only be able to watch whatever is being watched in the main room.
Also is it possible to watch a recording from the Sky+ box in the other room.
Any other alternative ?Thanks
I do have a spare standard box..........Will that make any difference ?

I do this into my bedroom....a cable runs up the wall from the living room and through the floor into the back of my bedroom tv...yes you can only watch the same as what s being watched downsairs but you can watch recorded programmes. Not sure of there is an alternative but i'm sure if there is someone will be along soon to tell you what it is x

You may have to physically move the box to a different room to view without multi room.

Sky have been sneaky with their new cards and each card is now paired to the box, it used to be a case (with the old blue cards) that you could just switch the card to another box, but on doing so now you are faced with a screen that says insert correct card for viewing movie channels etc... but also at the same time, programs that have been recorded on the box that has no card paired with it, you will no longer be able to view. Unless you wish sky to pair the already paired HD card to the normal + box, but then you will have the problem of having it paired again when you move it back to the HD box.

The only other option is as previously mentioned, run a cable to the tv in another room or get the remote eye.

Cable from "RF2 out" into second TV, fit magic eye at second TV, turn on RF out power on Sky box, Tune in 2nd TV.

Watch and control sky from 2nd location with full control of Sky+ recording and playback.

If you have NTL sockets in your house you can use these as the cable to you room for the sky box. I have done this as I use to have NTL in my bed room and in my lounge. You will just need a connector cable.

Run another cable from the LNB to the room and put in the "old" Sky box.

Then you can watch a number of free channels

(doesn't solve the issue of your recordings though - earlier suggestion will do that)

No-if there was, then they wouldn't be able to charge extra for MultiRoom.
