  • Gullivers world is great for 4 and 5 year olds. They love it. You just have to overlook the shabbiness of the place though. They have just opened the new Splashzone so it could be a great day out.

Woburn is fantastic but expensive unless you use Tesco vouchers. They have a big indoor softplay centre that is only a few years old as well if the weather turns.

Whichever you choose though take a pic-nic. Gullivers food is AWFUL and the foodcourt reeks of old stale frying oil. Woburn as you can imagine is quite expensive.

Even if you do not go to the Safari Park, I recomend a drive through Woburn and the deer park anyway. One of the prettiest places around here by far.

    Have a lovely day out!

I rate Woburn Safari park quite highly. You can pay in Tesco Clubcard Days Out vouchers too.

The safari is interesting and the leisure area is geared for kids around your age with a train ride too. The food in the restaurant whilst having a theme park premium was good quality and didn't have that much of price gouge.

And the biggest advantage compared to Longleat is that you can do the safari route as many times as you want.

OMG do not go to Guillivers world unless you want to spend an hour and a half waiting for hideous food, followed by your children being given nightmares by a decaying mechanical bear singing whilst its face slides off  As they passed me the broken 3d goggles for one ride that you had to hold onto your face it all became too much and I dissolved into uncontrollable hysterical laughter! They even have the cheek to charge £22 each for entry and they keep sending me leaflets in the post, not if it was the last amusement left on earth!

Oh dear that does sound bad. I actually thought the mechanical bears show was cute, but then the bears face never fell off!!!

We have been several times over the years and it is great for younger children we have found. Hardly any queues whenever we went, friendly staff and as it is a small park pretty easy to get around to do all the rides. I agree that the food in the Castle is not very good, with slow service to boot and would advise you to take your own food with you.

Woburn is good, but as another poster has said it is expensive for what it is and if you want a packed day with lots to do, Gullivers is better for your children's ages in my opinion. The new Splash Park at Gullivers looks fun too.

Whichever option you decide upon, you will have a nice day I am sure.

I've done both with my kids and I think if I had to choose again, we'd probably do Gullivers World. It is perfect for kids under 10, Yes, it is dated, needs a lick of paint and it doesn't have any "big" rides but they will have lots of fun. Take a picnic (you can leave it in your car and leave the park to get it) as food is expensive and not very nice! It cannot be compared with the likes of Chessington or Thorpe Park - it's only a small family run theme park but it's size means that it is easy to get around in a day and we've never experienced long queues, even in the summer hols.

I was disappointed with Woburn. The highlight is the safari drive - which is a lot of fun and takes an hour or so to complete, but once you've done that, it's a bit of a let down. We watched a bird demonstration, saw some penguins and played on the outdoor equipment, had a short train ride and that was about it. The indoor play area is roasting on a hot day (and packed) with seats only for those purchasing food from the cafe. Again, take a picnic to save money and they accept Tesco Vouchers.

    I hope this helps!

    Whichever you decide, have fun!

Don't forget that if you were born in 1970 then you get into Woburn Safari park free this year - they have a promotion on to celebrate their 40th birthday! You just need to take your passport with you to prove your age.
It made turning 40 this year a little bit less painful for me (not much though!)

now I'm leaning back towards Gullivers - perhaps I'll just toss a coin! Although the kids will have a good day where ever which is the beauty of their ages.

    Thanks for the input
