Thanks toots! You're right again - I have now finished the kitchen :j

I needed to touch up some paintwork and tidy away gibble that had been there for ages. I've done it all now, have 2 black bags for the bin, and have put things for elsewhere, elsewhere... So, I have clear and tidy worktops, tidy cupboards and drawers, cookery books on the bookcase, and a clear table to eat at. even the window ledge is clear of the paint cans, and they are now in my shed . So I think that room is officially done :T (perhaps a pot plant needed?)

I've also finished painting the door and radiator in the spare room, all remaining in there is to hang the curtains and get some spray paint to paint the louvre doors to the fitted wardrobe - 8 of them, too fiddly with a brush. I have the next couple of days off work so will do that then, then thats the bedrooms both completed :p

All the really leaves is the painting in the living room, it should only take an hour or two with any luck, as the bulk of it is done so the fiddly edges and one long wall. Then really, that is everything cracked.

I had a few jobs yesterday I tried to do but really needed an extra pair of hands so got very frustrated, however a friend is going to come and help this week so that, plus having got lots done today and being able to see the results means I'm feeling much more postive and seem to have rediscovered at least some of my get up and go :T

Remind me if I ever move house again to carefully check the decor and cleanliness before I buy it  :rotfl: Or to have enough spare cash to pay someone to do it all for me :p Still, I do like doing things myself and seeing the end result, there's just been so much of it this time....

Having a coffee now to relax for a bit, washing dried and brought in, small load in the machine ready to go once I find some more bits to put in. Then I think enough for today, at most some ironing. Electrician coming tomorrow to check the wiring etc over.

Hope everyone's having a good day

I've just ordered DS2's next size school trousers from M&S - 3 for 2 and delivery to store, so no charges :money:. Thanks for reminding me, JoJo. He doesn't really need anything else, but I'll probably stock up on white polo-shirts (Trutex are best, but not cheap) and t-shirts. He only got his new shoes a few weeks ago, so we'll get them checked towards the end of August and we can order the sweatshirts from school when he grows out of the current once (only bought in Feb this year).
DS2 needs a padlock, safety boots and overalls  - I've asked him to phone college, as the staff should know the best places to get them from. Back to the grindstone (laundry, homework and work).

OH's family now gone.. dinner almost cooked.. I am starving...

Term time holidays.. I don't ask permission to take MY children out of school.. I ring the school and TELL them they won't be there.. they do not belong to the school they belong to me and if a holiday is needed and affordable then I will go.. that said this is the 3rd year I've not taken them away though KH can afford a holiday with them.. wonder how that's possible... *growl snarl*..

Re the school holiday issue, she's in year 8 and has 99% attendance...thing is, I'm aware that some ethnically diverse families who attend the same school take their daughters out for prolonged periods, year in year out....as these same girls still attend the school then I can only presume that the threat to remove their school placement isn't followed through....anyways no matter we're going.:D

I would not dream of taking her out of school over the following years as it's exam time, it's just this occasion.

Sadly now schools are taking a much firmer line on this - the primary school where I work is regularly turning down requests that I know would have been approved in the past ( i know cos the secretary left a heap of them all over her desk thye other week).

I think this is coming down from the Government - although it never seemed to stop the Blair children from missing school as I remember.

I took my kids out of school once for a family holiday one June - and I ended up in a caravan with a husband with a VERY bad back.

NEVER AGAIN!!!!! -I took is as fate and we just went in the hols after that!

Trust me to get the kid with the comedic timing. The kid who has more lines, jokes and stage directions than the so called stars of the show - and doesn't have an understudy/replacement halfway through the show (even Aladdin, Jafar and Jasmine are replaced halfway through). The only child in Aladdin who can't get by onstage with a pair of pyjama trousers and a bikini top. Even the fraggling monkey gets away with brown PJs and a pair of ears.

Have been working with multicoloured ostrich and poultry feathers most of the day. The living room looks like a massacre in a psychedelic chicken factory.

Oh well. There's going to be no mistaking which part she's playing. Or what route she took from backstage to get there.

The teachers must be a little worried that she's not going to have a costume as all - I'm not a cliquey mum, so I'm not a known quantity - all they really know of me is that I'm studying something to do with sound or science, have purple hair, ridiculously coloured nails, usually wear DMs or Converse and whinge about money unless it's music/dance/performance related, when I'm the first to pay in full and usually sat at the front with a camera.

Will enjoy hearing of their reaction to the outfit.
I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.
