Jojo.. I am so glad it isn't just me that has competitions with the children to see who can spit the stones furthest! such a good influence!

FW has JUST brought the children back!!! .. we are at mediation next Tuesday so I have a list of demands.. mainly from me but a few from the children.

Still no contribution towards the prom expenses.. he has had to buy the little ones socks apparently they had none at his.. despite the fact I sent loads when he first got the house and if he washed them instead of binning them it might help!!

DD2 is wearing the same top she went in on Friday!

They are all in bed now but there is no way they will be up for school tomorrow.. and DD3 has a face like a melted welly.. miserable moose!

Dreading work tomorrow.....I got told off last Friday as there was no dinnerlady on the big yard when the children went out(there were 2 teachers out there).......I am on the little yard so nothing to do with me really......didn't say anything at the time and not sure what to do tomorrow. I was told by other dinner ladies that I should have said something but I am so stupid I just took it. Want to sau something tomorrow but not sure what.....any advice about getting a backbone gratefully recieved xx

    Whinge over.......xx

I've been a dinnerlady for 12 years - backbone is building slowly....

is there a senior dinnerlady? or one who gets on with the head?

we have a designated senior - but i have no fear of going to the boss myself - he's been here long enough to know I don't bother him with irrelevances....

who complained to you? teachers? or parents?

if it's parents refer them to the head - as dinnerstaff we do not diiscuss stuff with parents.

I can hold my own with most...but the 21 yearold TA who does a 30 minute dinner shift has me flummoxed - apparently all the rules don't apply to her............:mad::mad:.

hope i've been of some help...

, thank you, I will speak to who spoke to me on Friday(deputy head ) and hopefully sort it before going to head, my main problem is that I start crying when speaking to someone in authority.....knowing full well that me being a dinner lady an them being teachers makes them no better than me but I still feel lower class, I need some confidence LOL
    Thanks guys xx

Lurker here ... have a great week everyone x
  • Speak to your dinner lady boss, too, as s/he won't appreciate you being treated like a child when, if anyone had the responsibility to pull you up on something, it would be them - and you hadn't done anything wrong, anyway.
I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.

well lets face it - the last thing the deputy wants is you leaving....decent dinner staff are VERY hard to find - we are permanently short of staff.

Could you make sure that another colleague is present when you speak to the deputy head? I get upset very easily, too, and my memory usually goes to pieces. Might be a good idea to have someone as a witness.
If there is no senior dinner lady, you should at least have a line manager. Not that I'd approach that person at our place, if I can at all help it...
Laundry dealt with for tonight. Cuppa, I think, and then I'll see what's next.

Must talk to DH soon, too. He's hoping for a sun/sea/sand holiday again next year, but finances say 'no'. I'm thinking more along the lines of a week in a caravan (someone we know) and a week on a canal boat, which we can get through the time share. I just need to sell it to him. The kids will love the canal boat and the caravan.
