How many units of Electricity are you using a day?
Comments
-
27 units a day here, trying to work out where it all goes at the moment!0
-
Just had my bill through today and it says I use
3kwh electric per day
6kwh gas per day
am trying to reduce this further0 -
How many of you are living in the house Claire and what appliances are being used/left on?
Since my bill, I have taught myself to switch everything off at the points when not in use now rather than leave them on (don't know if this has helped much either) and also I have energy bulbs in every light where possible.
It also plays into my favour that I am happy to sit in the house with no lights on too in the evenings as I am not fussed on bright lights :cool:0 -

2 adults, 2 kids
Kids are trained to turn off tv at the switch when not in use on pain of being banned from it!
2 fridge freezers left on continuously
electric cooker - oven used maybe 4-5 times per week for 30 mins or so
microwave - probably used for an hour tops per week.
DW - once every 2 days
Washing machine - 6-7 loads per week
Tumble dryer 4-5 loads per week
plasma tv - 6 hours per day
sky box left on continuously
games console 2 hours per day
2 laptops - 3 hours per day each
imac desktop
3 clock radios left on continuously
kettle, toaster etc
plus lighting - unfortunately fittings in kitchen, living room, bathrooms and study do not take low energy bulbs but all bedrooms and hallway have lo energy.
I think I need an energy monitor!0 -
I signed up for one of those monitors via E.on and was told there is a 12 week wait on them. Got an email last week saying there is another 18 week delay as they are in high demand.0
-
I averaged 5.1 kWh per day over the last year. Highest was 8.5 kWh per day in January.0

Felt it appropriate to post this here..
Since my previous posts (above) in relation to recieving a hefty bill from e.on (duel fuel plan) I have over the past month been monitoring very carefully my electricity usage. So, from 6th July - 6th August (31 days) I have used on average 9 units per day. I am more than pleased considering that I owed an extra £450 odd on top of the bill recieved. Here's to the next bill in waiting!!!
Oh and gas usage over the last 31 days... 5 units.
Angels :-)
Well done on cutting back on your energy usage Angels. We might be able to help you achieve more savings.
Have a chat with our Energy Efficiency team. Give them a list of your appliances. They specialise in helping customers reduce their usage and will be happy to help.
Ask for a copy of a booklet called '100 ways to save money by saving energy.' It's free and contains lots of useful advice.
Also, check out our website, particularly the interactive house; more good tips here.
I'm sorry for the delay sending your energy monitor. As you say, demand for these has far exceeded our expectations. I think you'll find it worth the wait though.
Hope this helps Angels. Give me a shout if I can help further as will be happy to do so.
