Ahhhh... LED I see you say. LIGHT emitting diode, for those who don't know. The key word there being 'light', not heat.rsykes2000 wrote: »Similar in my kitchen, actually replaced the spots with LED ones and the draw for them is approx 2W each - makes a massive difference.
An energy source doing what it says 'on the tin'.
Do you want to pay for light or heat?
If I buy a 'light' bulb I want light. An average human body produces approx 200 WATTS of heat.
In fact 80% of our food intake is used to keep us mammals warm don't ya know
Of course the size of my body is probaly producing 80KW, 10 Mega Watts when I'm making love!
(Sorry mods:o )
It's why lizards can keep going on the intake of a small blobbleflopper once a week; as yet, an undiscovered creature which is the size of a moth but can communicate with Blip Blops.
Don't tell me you haven't heard of Blip Blop?
I wish someone would just agree with me for once...:D"Show me someone who says that they have never exceeded a speed limit, and I'll show you a liar, or a menace." (Austin Williams - Director, Transport Research Group)0 -

Soz again for late reply. I Wish someone could tell me where the setting is to notify me of a reply, but no matter...notbritishgas wrote: »So your electric bill with Npower would be £40 per year??
I think there are many on here who would love that bill, also 8pence for a primary electric unit is very cheap (and 2 pence even less believable), which npower tariff was it?
What are you paying with EoN?
I think I got my figures wrong
and you spotted my deliberate mistake
I was trying to recall it off the top of my head. Unfortunately the top of my head is bald so information tends to slide off and fall on the floor where my pet mungthwart eats it. (Thery're illegal in this country so don't grass on me).
But in principle I'm right that what they/he effectively did was sell me something which would only have benefited a family of four or more.
I have a confession. I was worng about the heat from electric and although you can't see me I'm eating humble pie.
That which we call a KiloWatt by any other appliance still warms as sweet. Since I've lost face I'll have to unsubcribe now and come back under a different name. I wonder if 'Handsome Devil' is available...

Eating lots of humble pie will give you broader shoulders to stand there and take the flack - while you are taking the flack, the people dishing it out are leaving somebody else alone. So doing your bit helping others. Or is that too many mixed metaphors.0 -

I missed that; it's so obvious too nowThread tools at the top then subscribe.
Well, not that obvious when you're my age and your arms aren't long enough to read a newspaper unless you take your specs off and bring it to your nose. (Gotta be at least 48 to know what I'm on about you youngsters

415 / 72 days = 5.76 average a day since 06/05/10 for 2 full time working adults
3 bed mid terrace, gas for heating, gas hob, electric oven. Only things left on constantly are wireless home phones, router, o2 Joggler, alarm clocks. We have 4 TV's (of which up to 2 will be on at once), 2 laptops, a PC, my ancient (original massive power brick) 360 and a dishwasher, which goes on 3 times a week, same for the washing machine. Dont have a tumble drier.
I was a bit surprised at my gas meter reading though, since 07/06/10 (33 days) we have only used 17 metric units of gas, even though we cook with gas every day, and have at least 2 showers and usually a bath, as well as the boiler kicking in to keep its internal temp up...o well0 -
Felt it appropriate to post this here..
Since my previous posts (above) in relation to recieving a hefty bill from e.on (duel fuel plan) I have over the past month been monitoring very carefully my electricity usage. So, from 6th July - 6th August (31 days) I have used on average 9 units per day. I am more than pleased considering that I owed an extra £450 odd on top of the bill recieved. Here's to the next bill in waiting!!!
Oh and gas usage over the last 31 days... 5 units.
