My son is looking into buying a laptop. He would be playing games on it - FIFA 10 & others like that. You Tube, MSN - the usual teenage stuff!!!!!!

I have come across a couple, but not sure if they would play such games. Can someone please let me know if they will?

These are just 2 I have seen, there are loads more I can see. What do we need to look out for when buying a laptop, in order for it to play games?

Many thanks

Forget about those machines and forget about Comet.

If you've a limited budget, this Medion is a better bet at £304. But it is still below the required specification for FIFA 2010.

The poster is saying that consoles are designed to play games and laptops really aren't. It's horses for courses here - a laptop coming close to the performance of a console is likely to cost several times as much as one.

Toshiba L500D 16L £399 is also better than your initial suggestions.

    Argos Return is £46 less.

My recommendation? If you budget can stretch to £434, get this Toshiba Satellite A500 1GL. It is excellent value for money and will play his games.

Don't hesitate or they will be gone. You can sent it back for a full refund within seven days if not perfect, so buy first and think later.

If you are looking for a laptop to play the latest games then you need one that is built for that. My advise would be not to buy from a highstreet store as most of the laptops they stock simply do not have the specs for playing the latest hardware demanding games.
Try online companys such as novatec ebuyer or scan computers they will even build you one to suit your needs and they all have great after sales service.

I guess you haven't taken into account that the OP was linking to laptops under £400.

Yup your right. But £400 is not going to buy a good gaming laptop.
but Novatec have one for 499.99 only a few dollars more.

But my Toshiba suggestion would have easily played FIFA 2010....which is the point.

Not difficult to suggest a gaming laptop if there is no budget. :)
