Thank you so so much Mrs R!!! From that, I reckon you are worth every hard earned penny :T
Of course, my own two hour cleaning routine goes something like this.....
Go into kitchen and assess whether there is a clean teaspoon available. Pop kettle on to boil and while waiting for it to do its thing, hunt for said teaspoon, take dirty one out of dishwasher, and clean. Then, take coffee of choice and decant it into a rather lovely Mug. At this point, if I am feeling v. active, I will open cupboard close by and briefly consider makings of storecupboard meal for later. By now, kettle has boiled, and coffee can be completed.
Taking drink as I go, and being careful where to put it, move into lounge, moving stuff from one part of the sofa to another in order to create sufficient space to park one's bot. Promising to just have 5 mins before starting on housework "proper", pick up the laptop and log into MSE.
2 hours later, moan on MSE about the lack of productivity despite all best intentions, and go back into the kitchen. Put kettle on and look for a clean teaspoon.........

I was reading Mrs R's thinking "Yes, I do that, Ecover - check, toothbrush for cleaning bathroom - check, stickler for clean bin - check". But as I sit on my laptop bemoaning my life I honestly am more like Hypno
Cleaning I'm on top of - tidying and putting away has beaten me hands down!0 -
Thankyou Mrs R, thats a fab list :T :T I now see where I'm going wrong though, I could probably clean my flat in an hour, from top to bottom as its small, but my problem is the tidying beforehand to get it in a state ready to be cleaned that takes hoursMortgage Total: £51,549 / £75,000

Benben - that's my problem too! Good job I don't have a cleaner really, I'm sure they'd be embarrassed
Mind you, if I did it all ONCE, then it might not take me so long each week :rotfl: But in reality I clean more like Hypno (with no dishwasher) :rotfl:
But thanks for the run down Mrs R, I really enjoyed reading it! :T0 -
Mrs R - after a long boring day assessing folders that has made me smile. Would probably take me 2 weeks to do that lot, but I do have the old toothbrush in the bathroom - so at least I'm part way there0

Now that is why I need a cleaner - the discipline of having someone come to CLEAN on a Thursday, means that we have a mad tidy up and put everything away beforehand. Without that discipline, it is easy to let things slip a bit (or a lot, in my case) but with it, it all works quite well!
Bit like having the discipline of going to be weighed once a week keeping me on the straight and narrow foodwise. I *could* just weigh myself at home, but I know that I would soon be making excuses for my little slip upsSuccessful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. Hypno - I think we are the English and Irish version of the same person in relation to needing discipline.
I was exactly the same at WW, I HAD to go to weigh in and as a child, my room was only tidy the day before the cleaner came!!

9th Sept is her first visit, so I have two weeks to get the place fit for purpose
I have already written out her envelopes :rotfl:Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -
Thanks Mrs R I enjoyed reading that. I too revert to type (ie putting things down and meaning to take them to their proper place later) every so often. In between times I have a 2 second rule mantra. That is I shout at myself when I put something down "2 second rule GIRL" that makes me put it where it should be straight away. Why spend hours tidying up things that only take 2 seconds to put away in the first place I tell myself, then I spot the sofa and have a cuppa in my hand. My worst habit is to take my shoes off in the kitchen (cant walk through the house in shoes - cream carpets) and throw them to one side whilst I rush through the house to go to the upstairs loo (cant get into the downstairs one because it needs decluttering) then once up there realise I should have brought the shoes to put away. 3 days later I invariably have 3 pairs of shoes that get moved to the stairs whilst moving through the rooms picking things up and putting them in places to move to their rightful place. Ok you get the picture! Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, I will try again tomorrow -- Mary Anne Radmacher0
