Congratulations Cocall you must be so thrilled.
Hypno Hope you get to next pay day without too much hassle which knowing you will be extremely doable.
I've been away for a few days at my best friends and had a fab time. Feel so rested. Came back and couldn't believe how lovely my under the stairs looked. I thought I was in the wrong house, lol! Hopefully will inspire me to keep going.
Need to make the rest of month and next very frugal if I am to get back on track with my financial plan. Where's Baldrick when you need him.0 -

I did get a quote for new windows (obviously PVC is not an option as it would devalue the house) and they are £1400 EACH! We have 9! So say no more about that.
Learning how to do them yourself would pay dividends in this case. They don't use up that much wood..."Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)

In years gone by, everybody did them, because they were that common. At £1400 a shot, and maybe only a hundred quid in wood, you can scrap dozens and still come out ahead.
They *are* fiddly, there's no getting away from that, but £1400 is well beyond excessive."Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)

Oh it sure is beyond excessive LOL and right now £140 is beyond me too but some day!
And yes at that price, you could certainly 'practice' over and over and still be quids inLBM Feb 2010 £62,700 Total Debt Jan 11 [STRIKE]£49,403.84[/STRIKE] £47,530.32.

Yes, congrats Cocalls - hope all's well
Back to sashes, some friends refurbed theirs themselves. Said it was easy, if yours are sound enough it might be worth considering. We've got one of those Collins DIY books and it tells you how to do it in there. Though time doesn't seem to in abundance for you either RED, so perhaps not
We enquired about having double glazed panes put in ours, but apparently they'd be too heavy.0 -
Yeah Macgirl, we were also told they would be too heavy but if you put new wooden frames, they can change the weights too (alledgedly)
And as you say - right now, it is not a go'er to even try ourselves and while it would save money I am loathed to let DH try because he never finishes anything. e.g started to tile bathroom in April.............the tile cutter is still in the bathroom and one wall is half finished!
