Hi all, not read whole thread so Hypno hope you had a fabby holiday. I've been in London for a few days then at Mum's so not been on but I am SO impressed with all your decluttering as I know how hard you find it. I have to say I love decluttering and I think I've said before that my dream job which i have business cards and everything done for is stylist/wardrobe declutterer so I'm so glad to see you all doing it and feeling the benefits.
I have to say (and I know I don't fit in with most women) that I always put myself first so I very much think I'm worth it when it comes to clothes etc but over the last few years my salary simply has not been big enough to shop and do lots of socialising so I chose to socialise but now that i am about to start the new job I have thoroughly enjoyed buying a few bits for it. They are all fairly cheap as I am a great sale shopper and love getting bargains but I love all my new bits and they are definetely more in line with the image I want to project. As for the Gap trousers, I bought a pair the other day and they are AMAZING. I am petite and have short chunky legs but these are perfect at the waist, bum and hips and they come in 2 or maybe 3 lenghts. I felt great in them, which is not usually how I feel when trouser shopping!
Good to be back and Hypno i'll sponsor you at the end of the month. VERY worthwhile cause!'The road to a friends house is never long'0 -
Well done on all that decluttering.

I've been to the tip, so another lot gone...and have been to the supermarket, where I got stuff for the rest of the month, so don't really need to shop again for a while, which is good because I think I am going to be fairly busy for a bit in the evenings as I want to make the most of the house-clearing momentum!
so, just having a coffee, then will carry on - I have sold a book on amazon that I need to pack up, and I found another box of books in the garage that I need to see whether they are worth listing or not, otherwise they can go onto the charity shop pile.
Then the airing cupboard beckons.....Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -
Ok. I get it. It is subliminal isn't it?
Uncluttering. Capsule Wardrobe. Not prioritising self. Running.Shred.
Am I paranoid or is Hypno just a frontman to get these messages across to me.
Unbelievable accounts of non stop activity and industry fueled by running, self motivation, the odd coffee and MSE friendship....no..not possible.Hmm I think there is some subliminal messaging happening on this thread - I appear to be decluttering my tiny flat, although it has been partly caused by not being able to find the gadget to remove the halogen bulbs from my totally extinguished kitchen lights and to get my food shopping in my cupboards.
You are all so weak, and I am so strong willed. I will not be subliminally dictated to & I will not buy Shred. (Ok, so have been decluttering - in the garden mostly). (And am about to sort out my wardrobe, completely by coincidence you understand
).
On the 'I'm not worth it' thoughts, I do insist on nice underwear even when wearing charity shop buys (though to be fair I do have standards for charity shops - nothing cheaper than Next unless it's a Bon Marche wrap dress as they really suit me). But as for the age of clothes, they're not old, they're vintageA positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effortMortgage Balance = £0

I'm scared....I just can't dump the 15 - 20 year old t-shirts, I still wear most, admittedly some as pj's. Most are from wembley gigs that DH and I went to, I guess I haven't hit the ruthless thing yet.
Struggling with piles of books here.
Yes there is a sublimal thing going on, said the same to Scrooge earlier on this week.DC.

What about making a t-shirt quilt? I've seen people do it - cut off the bits with the log on, maybe stitch round them, or just stitch them all together, and make a simple quilt for the spare room or whatever? (probably more bulky than the t shirts! :rotfl: but you can kid yourself it's a useful blanket...)
Sorry, that wasn't much help was it?? :rotfl:0 -
Haven't yet done the airing cupboard, but did a cupboard in DD's room that was being used for general storage instead, so another bag of rubbish, plus some general sorting done.....also found a pair of evening shoes that I must have worn once and put them away for safe keeping.....and then promptly forgot about
So, a very productive afternoon so far!
My sponsorship has hit its original target of £100, so I may go and change that to a slightly higher target. Thank you to everyone who has sponsored me so far - you are all stars :TSuccessful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. DC, I couldn't throw away the t-shirts that Dad got when he did marathons that we ran together way back in the early 90s.....I have kept them, will wear them with love, remind myself that he is encouraging me round those long runs on dark wet evenings through the winter, and be very glad that I have kept them.
Almost everything else of his has gone either to the bin or to the charity shop. But those two or three t-shirts are going nowhere :ASuccessful women can still have their feet on the ground.
