  • That's poor :(

Don't turn it on until it's back at normal temperature. May cold burn inside.

Off to enjoy twins birthday and clean up some blood. One of older girls looks like she had bad TOTM and has leaked. I hate clearing this mess up more than anything and can't ask Lucy too the way she is and DD is cleaning herself up.

One final thing, on under 12 weeks pregnant thread, option of private scans alongside NHS ones. We are in fortunate position of being able to afford - any experiences?

    Have a nice day all.

I had a private scan at 8 weeks as we wanted to see that all was okay before telling parents on Mother's Day. It was far less rushed and more thorough than the NHS ones, and we only paid £50 for ours. I agree you probably won't get one now before your NHS one on Tuesday, but I think that if money is no issue then it is quite a nice thing to do (and I imagine even nicer later on when there is more to see).

I had an NHS scan while bleeding in the UK, but most of mine were done here. The NHS equipment looked like it came out of a museum in comparison :rotfl:

If you have a scan booked for Tuesday I'd save the £80 till Lucy's 26-28 weeksish and get a $d scan. My doctor did those as a matter of course until it was all too cramped in there to see anything beyond her little butt poking out, and it was incredible.

Funnily enough the equipment used for our NHS one was head and shoulders above the private one. I guess we are fortunate that our local hospital also happens to be the top maternity one in the area, but the pictures printed at Princess Anne (of OBEM fame) are 10 times clearer than the ones printed at the private clinic.

Have a look on the gadgetshop.com website EA - boys will like spy telescopes and listening devices, and girls will like mini cupcake kits :D

Edit: 3, if I ever manage to create such a thing and you still think it'll be good for you, I'll give you mates rates in exchange for this amount of energy into publicity :rotfl:

    Plus 10% Quidco :money:.

The mini cupcake kit would be ideal for the twins. Maybe it would be a good purchase for Christmas, now it's too late for their birthday. May look around that site and kill a few birds with one stone.

I wish I never had bought them the cheerleader outfits now, they are never going to stop dancing and singing. Not that they ever did before. :rotfl:At least they are quietish for now with their friends present and mummies.

I nipped to Tesco this morning (new candles for cake...oops nearly had to use old ones) and they have quite a big range of BOGOF books in the baby/children section, which may be useful for someone if it's nationwide. I nearly bought some baby books, but resisted. Will take Lucy along tomorrow if she fancies it, to see if she'd like any of them.

Started out? Did something not good happen? :(

That was meant to say 'started out life with a twin'
His mum kept having mc's and fell pregnant for the 3rd time, had a mc and was basically told she was no longer pregnant and also had a cyst. Went for a scan few weeks later, the 'cyst' had arms, legs and a heartbeat and is now the man i love :)

I'm sure you are a great MW. It's only a minority who are not and that's the same with all job roles. Always rogue employees everywhere.

Im not a MW yet, still need to do the course, but i like to read peoples experiances so i know what care pregnant woman would like/expect.

You got a fair bit at your private scan then. That would be nice to have. I've got all the scans etc from when my girls were babies, upstairs safely stored away.

We have all of Lilys in my pregnancy book and some are framed. My private scan was £60 incase you wanted a rough figure on price. Its different everywhere though.
    I also had a 4d scan that was £120.

Well done to Lily on sitting up for a minute. Those 'firsts' are always special :)

Thanks, she's now asleep after rolling around trying to get the newspaper so she could eat it :D
    Enjoy the pudding ;)

I replied in pink, and i hope all goes well at your scan :)

Im off now to cook dinner, then to watch the last few episodes of Dexter :D

    Take care everyone x

What about the 12 week scan? Do you mean 4d? Wasn't thinking about next weeks scan as it would be too early.

I meant 4D, and if you're spending money on a private scan wait till you get to see more of the fun stuff.

So the private ones are only the early scans, not the later ones? Or you can have them anytime? Too early for Tuesday now, but uaseful to know for further down the line.

I think if we get anything like EA got at her scan, it would be well worth it and I want Lucy to feel important and not just another expectant mother in the eyes of the NHS.

I'll phone the unit next week and find out cost, as the more I hear, the more i'd like it (I've not even asked the person that matters yet!)

Oh good, thought it was going to be a bad story for a minute :(

I think with training to be a MW, your own experience of giving birth will be useful. You've been there and know what you wanted and needed and yes of course, others experiences can only help you. I'm sure you'll be a great MW.

Thanks for the price guide. Ranges from £50-£90 from all the posts so far. 4D at £120 is more, but we'll live with it if it's something nice to have.

    Enjoy dinner :)

Good point, may not be worth a 4D scan at this stage. a 4D scan of very little.

We didn't tell them at all:rotfl: We said we were going for a picnic at Stoke, they worked it out when they realsed we were following the brown signs saying Alton Towers:rotfl:They were bouncing yup and down:D

Also, the Gadget Shop has a warehouse clearance going on, stocking fillers for difficult to buy for men for 50p-£1. £3.99 delivery is a PITA but if you get a few things it still works out well under RRP :money:

I will convert you all to being early shoppers!

I don't think I'd want to have one more thorough than the NHS ones. Twenty minutes plus waiting for the baby to move was long enough for me.

  • Susan- I had totally just copied that link to come on here and say it reminded me of a few people on here!

My 12 week NHS one lasted less than 5 minutes, although I waited ages to be seen.
