:rotfl:at MFD's post still being on Bastage Camps home page. Can I have a linky to see it!

Mel It looks like you had a great day. I love the pram - are you happy with it?
We should go - i've not been to Alton Towers for years. (It was actually the day after Freddie Mercury died, whenever that was - random memory!)

Welcome Bexta. Yes, i've got a grubby little girl too. I try to make her look all girl and pretty, but it normally lasts around 10 minutes.

  • :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:Hahahaha - my posts are still on Bastage Camp FB Page here

I thought they had locked me out last night but I can get back in now *shrugs*

I am sure smug Gillian will be fuming when she sees :D

I really must stop lurking on here but...just wanted to add that I'm also absolutely disgusted by the actions of b camp and have added a comment on the FB group (I'm EH). I fully expect it to get pulled pretty soon but if you would rather I deleted it so as not to 'fan to flames' I will happily do so.

I wish I could more to help on a practical level; I do actually have a law degree but is so out of date now that it is practically been rendered useless in this capacity!

I'm not sure if I'm more disgusted by their actual actions on the day or their continued attempt to swerve any form of liability and culpability.

Whatever the outcome I wish you well and hope that your future holidays are happy ones that you can remember fondly.

Hiya - thanks for you post, it gave me a chance to have another go!!

    Please don't lurk! Talk!!

That goes for all of you!! Hiya Bexta!

Michelle - it all started with a different and very tacky looking spoon/bottle thing that MFD was sent to test for BB. kinda linked to the stereotypical thing of rusk in bottles too. I don't think you're a chav though (if you are you hide it well ;))
tbh I think they are a completely ridiculous product but obviously someone is buying them and I'm sure some think its great

LOL - what she said! I don't understand them at all.

Why would anyone want a spoon that is continuously full? I wouldn't like it as an adult and I don't like the thought of it for a baby :(

Not at all a dig at you Michelle, I think you are lovely...which is why I kept my trap shut in the first place (Sami :naughty: ) I just don't understand these - and the one I was sent was REALLY chavvy!!!

Hope it goes well for you today Michelle xx

Oh it's a public FB page. I rarely click on the links as I don't have FB.

Have you contacted all the relevant Autistic societies etc to let them know of your experience and whether they are willing to get involved?

Luce - I think TK Maxx have had peanut shell pouch slings quite cheap recently, (IIRC sub £20) check out the sling meet website to see if there is one near you, some of the SM organisers run sling libraries so you could rent one and see if it works for you then before shelling out for an expensive one - FWIW I LOVE my slings and do think they are worth it in the long run, esp if you'll be having anymore babies and they also tend to fetch a good price on ebay 2nd hand

Hi Sami, sorry meant to reply to you last night but never got chance to get back on. Will have a look in TK Maxx thanks :) I can't seem to find any sling meets in my area. On one of the sling meet websites some people have started a thread about a meet in Carlisle so might post on that!

Bexta - Alfie always looks grubby as well, especially under his neck, i'm forever cleaning it. Hows Sophie getting on? She's gorgeous btw :)

Sounds like you had a fab time at Alton Towers Mel, i've always wanted to go but it's quite a long distance from where i live. I bet your boys loved it though!

Hugs Michelle, i hope today goes ok xx

T is gorgeous Gill. That Hop and Pop looks really good. Might have to be buying Alfie one of them when he's old enough, not that i could possibly fit anymore toys in my living room, i think its in need of a serious sort out!

Well we had a good night here, Alfie slept from 8pm till 6am with a dreamfeed at 11pm :j:j It's amazing how much better i feel for a good night sleep!

Off to toddler group with Jake this afternoon, well if i can ever find any motivation to get ready lol.

Hope everyone has a good day x

Bex, I think all babies get finger jam... It does go eventually, once they start opening their hands a bit more... But that's when they start putting their hands in things they shouldn't and end up dirty for other reasons....

Caitlyn was ridiculously sweet this morning, came into the living room for a big hug, then said "nah nah" and waved at me, which is what she does when she goes to bed... I asked her if she wanted to go for a nap, and took her up, she went down with not a murmur! It was only half 9 too...
A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...
Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.

Oo Krystal, that would be a nice step if she keeps doing that :)
We have just noticed E showing some (his first...) real awareness of his own tiredness; he doesn't admit it directly, but he starts explaining to us all the things that are going to sleep. "Mama, TV going to sleeeeep. Lightbulb going to sleeeeep. Clock going to sleeeeep." :) when he does this he is usually safe to kick the routine off on!

On the topic of my bedtimes moan from the other week - things have improved a bit perhaps partly from a slightly sterner line and partly from his just getting better at it; most nights now only require one re-settle after he goes down, before he sleeps for the night. This is a big improvement :D although we are still staying quiet from 9-9.40 or so which is not ideal.

MOTM - I was thinking about Lucy on the way to work this morning. I am guessing that they just think that she is further on than she thinks she is...perhaps her bleed the month before was an implantation bleed. which would put her possibly 4 weeks further in!!

Can you remember what she measured at?

Edit - how cute Krystal - Benjamin literally rattles the door handle if he isn't upstairs by 7pm but naps are a bit more hit and miss (he wants to sleep in the morning for me, but only sleeps in the afternoon for the CM so I try to keep him in the same routine)

MOTM - I had similar experiences with a stand-in midwife and a regular one, who i used to hate seeing. I even used to try and time going to the toilet at the clinic they ran, in case she was finished first and called me in next! If Lucy wont be seeing her again, all i think you can do is comfort her (which Im sure you are), and buoy her with the knowledge you wont have to see her again. if there is any chance however of seeing her again you can tell them you wont dont wish to be seen by her again, you dont even have to give the reasons if you dont want to.

She should be given a dating scan, as well as the norm 12 week scan, which will help with the due date etc. Did the midwife measure Lucy at all, otherwise I cant see how she can say she's big for 9 weeks? Quite a lot of women get a bit of a paunch going on in the early weeks which then goes, and comes back again as more baby bump. Also if shes petite she is likely to show more quickly/earlier. I too am petite, and I went xmas shopping and was asked when i was due and said June and the woman went white because apparently I was HUGE (Yeah thanks love just what i wanted to hear)......
With any pregnancy there is a risk of miscarriage but she definitely hasnt helped Lucy if you feel she was alarmist in any way. There are ways to relay the information and unfortunately it sounds like shes one of those who have had the conversation so many times, they forget it will be "new" to someone else....

Give her hugs from all of us, and do yourselves a favour and stay away from googling any of it (my best advice), it'll only stress you both even more.
If she's really worried about any of the information, I'd recommend contacting the early pregnancy unit at your hospital and ask to come in to discuss the concerns. The one I went to in my old home town was really sweet, and they're more "adept" at handling sensitive topics/fears.....and they dont mind how long you're there for!
Best wishes for the twins tomorrow as well....

That's awful that you felt the need to time loo visits to avoid her :o I always figured you'd need some social skills to do such a job and i'm sure most have. We don't want to see her again and if we are called by her, we'll request another MW and I will give our reasons and I don't care if it upsets MW.

MW measured Lucy, wrote things down but didn't actually tell us any of it. Not sure if that was normal to not disclose anything. Totally different to 2000 when I last 'experienced' such events.

Nice woman telling you that you were huge. Nice and tactful:o Alarmist was a good word. Not a hint of a smile in that old wooden face and monotonal voice was irritating. Maybe time to hang up the uniform.

I'm trying to avoid google. I could handle it, Lucy maybe not and it would feel like going behind her back and i'm no good at keeping things from her or the girls. We only told the girls we are going back next week and Lucy was upset because she was anxious and the girls went out of their way for the rest of the day to try and make her feel less anxious.

May look into that early pregnancy unit. Our hospital only open from 08:00 -10:30 for that, so short time space.

Twins are in full voice already (again)

    Thanks for your post

MOTM, the mw is talking b******t. At 9 weeks she won't be able to say what size the uterus is, it's still tucked under the pubic bone and will be till about 12 weeks. Even if Lucy is further on, it's still far too early for a mw to feel the uterus and comment on size.

If she was referring to bloating around the tummy, it's what happens in pregnancy. Your body bloats up in the first trimester, then you appear to loose weight before the 'bump' starts growing.

A scan at 10 weeks won't usually tell you if there has been VTS (which happens in something around 1 in 4 pregnancies) because it generally happens in the first weeks, most vanished twins are reabsorbed by 8 weeks. But again, until a lot further on in a pregnancy, there is no way to tell visually or by feel, how many a woman is carrying.

Apparently this dating scan will tell us how many are inside, which we assume is what is happening next week. MW lacked any information and we were both all over the place with what she was saying, most of which made no sense, so didn't ask, which is unusual for me as I usually bore the poop out of people with my questions.

Basically then, the VTS comments from MW were not relevant. The only thing I got the feeling about was that she disbelieved our conception date. I think I noticed a trigger when she found out that this was Lucy's first, but I already had 7. Don't think she was overly impressed.

    Thanks for the info.

MOTM, Some midwifes just have no tact, when i was 7-8 weeks pregnant with jake i had a bleed, managed to get a scan the same day at the epu and they proceeded to tell me i had a 50% chance of a miscarriage even though we had just seen a healthy heartbeat:mad: it was in the back of my mind the rest of the pregnancy and i couldnt relax at all!! i still dont understand what possessed them to tell me that, there was absolutely no need!

That just wasn't needed? Why on earth do they employ these people? Last thing a parent, especially a Mother carrying, needs.

I can imagine it was in the back of your mind. Just what you needed at that time - not.

She works in a large retail store ( where I work and OH is deputy manager :) ) she works 4 evenings and is just doing it for pocket money and at £6.24 shes on a lot more than most of her friends per hour whilst she goes to college so nothing to do with her chosen career path. I am enjoying seeing her excitement at spending all her hard earned money:)

It's a handy rate for someone her age, with minimum wage being much lower at that early in her working life. Do you ask for her to contribute in any way? Good for her to getting her first step on the ladder.

    Hi everyone

Had a FANTASTIC day yesterday, weather was a bit drizzly but we all had coats so wasn't a problem for us. I saw so many poor people walking round in short sleeved tops, and they were freezing haha, I took everything needed for a week away I think. We had two rucksacks, plus baby changing bag, coats and umbrella's haha, it never actually rained enough to bother with umbrellas though and was sort of on and off:) Made for pretty short queues so was better imo:)

We left the house shortly after 9am and didn't get home until 9.30pm it was a LOOOOOONG day, I kinda wish we had bought the 'second day' tickets, apparantly if you go the very next day it only costs £9 per ticket! I didn't because as cheap as that is it still costs £20-£25 in fuel and then food/drinks for all five of us is not cheap......

I have put a linky for a few pics, although I didn't get many cos I was too busy enjoying myself haha xx

I would say the only thing that could be improved on is some seating near the rides for those who are waiting for riders:(

Glad you had a great day. Sounds fun and that you enjoyed as much as anyone :)
