Thanks Jillie, Ladybird, Som and GISI for your replies, it makes me think that if anything I would want to go down to 3 days rather than full time which will probably be much easier to do.

i worried too long about being 'able to afford' a baby and now its something i regret. i wish i had had a baby some years ago.

The other thing I forgot to think about is I'm already 30 and not getting any younger.

We have a plan for if me or OH loose our jobs (we both work in public sector so it could happen) - we are going to move in with my mum! Haven't told her yet lol.

Susan IIRC you said that Alice started eating at 10months, how long was it after that that you were able to drop the day time breast feeds? (Assuming that is what you have done) Erin is going to start nursery at 11months so I wont have long to get it sorted but she still isn't eating much.

Becles, my nephews had balance bikes but they started with little wooden ones first and now the oldest (4) rides a normal bike with no stabilisers so it seems to have worked.

    Good luck Tigs!

I tried to send feelinggood a pm to find out how she is but she's not receiving messages. I know she has a chequered history with this thread but has offered useful comments in the past and I wanted to know that she was ok, does anyone know?

I swear to god no-one best make any offers of wanting to take my baby home cos I will hand her over in a heartbeat!!! I truly am at the end of my tether with her......most babies at least sleep in between feeds!! Well I have had 1.5hrs sleep so far and that looks like all I will be getting, I truly believe she hates me:( and that is fast becoming reciprocated:( I wish I didn't feel this way, I don't think it's her, I think it's me. I have never felt like this before:(

I need to get K in the docs tom, I think he has an ear infection:( He has been a bit grumpy the last few days but he kept falling over when we let him run about at the school playground while we watching sports day (he is sporting a nice bump on the head!) and then before bed I noticed him pulling and poking his ear:( He has also woken a few times crying......
Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot,
Nothing is going to get better. It's not.

Aww Mel :( She absolutely doesn't hate you. Is she FF? Could OH stay up with her tonight so you can sleep? Even if you went to bed as soon as the others are all in bed and you take over at 5 or something so OH could get a couple of hours.

I hope you managed some sleep :)

I thought of Charlotte when they showed a scrotum on Channel 4! Hope she wasn't watching!

ETA- Just to confirm that she doesn't like scrotums!

    :rotfl:

    No she wasn't watching!

    Good luck Tigs xx

I had really bad tummy cramps yesterday. I just thought it was PMT as I'm due on, but then I was sick last night and I've been up and down with the runs all night :(

Feel properly sorry for myself this morning! Going to see if I can juggle work around so I can stay in this morning. Charlotte's nursery teacher is coming out this afternoon for a quick visit at home, and I don't want to miss that as I want to ask her some questions.

It's all changed since Josh and James started school. They either did mornings or afternoons in the nursery where is was mainly all play based learning. Then they moved into reception class when they started full time school, and it was half play based learning and half formal learning. I can remember them bringing home Jolly Phonics sheets, maths sheets and Chip and Biff books to read. Then Year 1 onwards was formal learning all day.

Now nursery and reception are mixed in together and the whole group is called Foundation Stage. Half are in the old reception class and half are in the old nursery building (it's just a few yards away and they've built a huge outdoor shared play area between the two.)

Each class has a mix of full time reception children, then some nursery ones who either attend mornings, afternoons, or 2½ full days. With a mix of ages and different attendance times, I'm confused as to how they actually teach them?!

James has gone to the secondary school with Josh this morning for the day. They are going to be shown their tutor room and will meet some of the teachers, and will have their lunch with the existing Year 7 & 8's. He's was dead excited about going on the bus and stuff :D

Mel - has she got days and nights the wrong way round? Charlotte did and I cured her by keeping her downstairs so she was in daylight, making as much noise as possible during the day and waking her for a feed every 2½-3 hours. Hope you get something sorted out.

Have a good day all xx
Here I go again on my own....

At ten months, she was having five feeds a day: first thing, mid morning, mid afternoon (on waking from nap), bedtime and 10pm. 10pm was dropped at 13 months by us stopping waking her up for it (followed by a week of occasional early mornings). Mid afternoon feed went around 19 months as she became less interested in it so I started offering drink/snack instead and then morning feed went the same way around 23 months. However, I did nothing to encourage her to stop having milk at those times - if I had been going back to work I probably would have kept the 10pm feed and offered snack/drink as an alternative to the mid morning/afternoon feeds much earlier rather than waiting for her lead. Also depending on how you get on with expressing and she gets on with consuming expressed milk, expressing is also something that can be considered.

I'm still in touch with her outside of MSE and she's doing okay.
