Alfie looks like a ragamufin baby today. He's in a 3-6 outfit but it's miles too big for him, and also now covered in drool and sick :(

Benjamin is wearing a Thomas the Tank Engine t-shirt and he was already damp chested when I dropped him off. Partially because of his teething, mostly because he kept pulling it up to kiss Thomas :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Thank you all of my lovely ladies - I knew you'd all come up with good ideas.

    I have emailed;
    The National Autistic Society
Keith Duffy via his agent and corrie.
    GMTV
    This Morning
    All three local papers
Three journalists who've had recent articles in the press about the camps.

Mum has had a call from the local radio newsdesk saying they're just waiting for a response from them before they can include it in the hourly news. :D

Still waiting to hear from them either in person or through paypal.

    I'm still bl00dy raging.

I've had text contact with Glam - she's ok. I've just text her now to see if little Jacks spots are gone.

I don't want to mention any names as it might turn into some kind of legal situation, but you all know where i've been, and it was booked as a lovely special type of holiday especially designed for autistic children. It was stupidly expensive for 5 nights b&b - but my uncle had paid, and was happy to.
    ...
J was quite happy outside in the garden and I went in to make a cuppa and start dinner while some of the volunteers stayed outside with J. Then L comes running in, J had smacked and broken a little pain of glass in a window. I went out to see what had happened and one of the paid staff said he was sitting there very calm and chilled, when he got up and ran at the window. It turns out (L told me) that this woman is a 'healer' and when everyone else but her had gone inside, sat close to J and started waving her hands around his head/body & chanting, he'd jumped up and ran away distressed! He doesn't like strange people in his personal space and doesn't have the ability to tell them to p'off out of his bubble.

He was quite distressed after this but again, not as bad as he could have been, and calmed down and came in to eat dinner with us.

After dinner, the organiser and her helper (the healer) came into the kitchen where me & mum were doing our dishes. They said that they'd had a meeting and suggested we leave as this 'situation' isn't helping J as he is very unsettled. I said it's day one, he's autistic which means they don't like change to routine but for 95% of the day he'd been perfect. They said that they'd spoken to the main man (the author who'd started the camps in America) and he'd also suggested we leave.
I was absolutely raging and told the organiser exactly what I thought of her and the organisation. I told her they were aware of J's age when I booked, and if they only welcome younger (under 4ft and 4st) autistic children who can be manhandled easier they should have said.
I mentioned a full refund and she said I could discuss getting a partial refund. Cheeky bint.

L was absolutely distraught so I told the organiser to explain to L why she was being sent home from the holiday she was really enjoying. I also told her I hope her son never gets bigger than 5ft tall or they'll find themselves barred too. :rotfl:
I haven't caught up but I saw the comments and went back to find your post. I am incensed on your behalf. It was a holiday especially for autistic children. That means that the people running it should know what autistic children are like both in terms of what they can tolerate and in terms of the kind of behaviour outbursts (for want of a better term) they can have. If it had been juts a "regular" holiday then fair enough they might not expect that kind of behaviour (although I still think they should be understanding and accomodating) but when it's specifically for autistic children they should expect it and should screen people if they are going to be fussy about behaviour. I would have thought the whole point of a holiday like that is that you don't need to worry about your autistic child's behaviour because you know that the people there know about it and expect it and be understanding and accomodating. Although objectionable it would at least be understandable if it had been a "regular" holiday but it seems very cruel to offer families of autistic children a special holiday and then whip it away because the autistic child behaves like an autistic child.

Taking into consideration the behaviour of the children on the special needs play scheme I worked on, I wouldn't rate what he did as a really major incident anyway. And given the provocation, I think they should be not only giving you a full refund but also at least covering your transport costs for getting there and back.
