I have to get a copy of my birth certificate signed for my uni application... on the list of people who can sign it, (doctor etc) it says "permanent civil servant". So can i get someone at the job centre to sign it?? *confused*

Beenie - If it says "permanent" then you would have to be sure that the person at the Job Centre isn't an agency worker, and that they are an permanent employee of central government. A lot of government departments and agencies, take on temps on 10 month contracts. I would probably have thought that it was like a passport application though whereby it should be someone you have known for a while who can vouch for you. They must be a professional person though. If you know someone in the job centre well then you could ask them, but make sure they are definitely a Civil Servant.

    Afternoon all..

Feels like it should be late afternoon, I've been on the go since half eight :) Kitchen tidied, washing done, and I've packed up three boxes of baby stuff for my friend - including a jam-packed Pampers Mega box full of all my expressing kit  Now got to sort all my paperwork, file what I want to keep and give the rest to OH for a bonfire later.

We're off to Halfords later for a new car seat and then Rhys and I are going to visit a friend while OH finally gets the blackout blind up!

Hope everyone is having a good day xx

Chicken pox is going round here as well, 2 work friends have children with it and an old school friend's LO has it too. AFAIK S has had no contact with any kids with it as yet, but thats bound to change... I just hope he doesnt get it 3 times like I did, apparantly my body has no immunity to it!

Had a long sit down and a chat with my nan today. She is in her 80's now and ATM still lives in the family home where my mum, auntie and myself were all brought up, but out of the blue she has decided she wants to move out, probably into a nursing home :(
She has offered it to us to rent though, and she only wants us to cover her rent so financially it makes sense. Plus she had planned to leave us the house anyway, so we can really settle there and know its ours and we wont have to move again unless we want to.
Thing is, she is able bodied still ATM, just has the usual hip/back etc pains associated with old age and is in good health, so I am very surprised she has decided she wants to go into a nursing home, I dont see what possible benefit it would be to her? The last thing I want is to see her go in in a fit state and end up vegetating because theres nothing else to do and thats what everyone else in there does :(
I suggested a warden assisted retirement flat instead but she wasnt very keen.
can you take her to look at places? My Nan was in a home that was quite lively, they had a friday afternoon tea dance every week and did party games sometimes.
Do you have any idea why she wants to go? is she scared of being alone, lonely...

I'm quite please with Ed this morning, we were skyping my mum and when she said byeee he waved with both hands :T he usually won't wave for anyone
The very best is sometimes what nature gives us for free.

I wish!!! When a couple of the budget airlines had their sales on a few weeks ago I was about to book a couple of trips away for us, but Alfie's fare was more than mine and DH's put together!! Scandalous when he doesn't even get a seat  So in the end I didn't book anything as it was too expensive. When they do the sale next year I'm going to book a nice cheap trip for me and DH and leave Alfie with my mum

    Well done Ed!

    Oh, Sami reminded me..

Glam, what about getting to the airport / car parking for your cars at this end?

Em, my nan sold her big 3 bedroom detached house and moved into a studio flat in a warden assisted place about eight years ago (she's 83 now). She absolutely loves it! :D She's never in - always at card games (she used to play but is now almost blind so just goes for the company - and to help her friend win! :p), luncheon clubs, gardening clubs, committee meetings to make fundraising open day plans to raise money for their garden benches and bird tables etc! Like Becles (I think) said, my nana's always in and out of the other flats. Only thing she used to miss was her big garden from the old house, but (when her sight was better) she used to walk round to my parents house and tend to their garden instead ;) The wardens are really good, just check on them each weekday morning (if they don't answer on the second round of checks the wardens let themselves in) and the rest of the time they're in the office if they need them. At weekends, the residents have to answer a phonecall from someone in the central office and if they don't, the office call the emergency number (my parents).

Ah right i'd not thought of agency workers!

They don't need to know me, it's merely to show them my original birth cert, and give them a photocopy and they have to sign and say it's the same document.
Otherwise i'm gonna have to drive to Gateshead and that's a right mission.

I have to get the JC to sign and stamp it too to prove i claim so i'm there tomorrow, was hoping to kill two birds...

  • Hello everyone :D

Sitting listening to Benjamin singing to himself over the monitor. He is supposed to be having a nap but it would appear that he is far too interested in listening to his own voice!

Had a lovely time at Great Neices birthday yesterday. Benjamin loved the Bouncy Castle and had great fun chasing the dogs around (and then running away the second they showed any interest in him!)

This weekend my baby has learned to Bum Shuffle :T which is very funny and also to come all the way downstairs on his own :T

Hope everyone is well, off to have a read back.

We've always paid a small fee for babies without seats on flights. I think it was £20 for Charlotte the first time we took her to Turkey.
Here I go again on my own....
