Bad mummy (and daddy) confession time.
Have never taught Joe to ride a bike.
Now all the kids on the street are out on their bikes and poor Joe is left out and sulking. He has one, but its a little one and he's too big for it really.
Promised I'd take him or his dad would, to the park on Saturday morning to try teach him. Then we checked him against his bike and it really is a baby bike for a toddler. So now I'm looking at what £70 - £100? for a new bike, 6 months away from his birthday or Christmas. But he really is feeling left out and his little face is all:(:(.
So looks like a trip to toys r us is on the cards for tomorrow, as they have some on sale, but have absolutely no idea of what size he will need. Can't wait to teach him, not. He is a daredevil, but if he can't "get it " he will strop for England.0 -
Aimee doesn't know how either... Dave's going to take her out on hers in the morning... It's an Argos cheapy...A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...My Fathers Daughter wrote: »Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.

Try to buy one that is quite light for a first bike WM. Something simple like a bmx rather than anything with a load of fancy gears that will make his life more difficult.
And don't try to teach him on the street in front of his matesplease listen to MFD - she is a wise womanProud Mummy to the gorgeous Benjamin John born 14 March 2009, 8lbs 14ozA new little seedling on the way, due 30 September 20120 -

Not too sure if I can get a BMX small enough. He's a little 'un. With short legs. So probably only looking at a 14" or 16" wheel. Will have to have a look around, Halfords, toys r us. Only thing is, he'll want one from the first place we go and will refuse to shop round. *rolls-eyes"
Defo no teaching in the street. Kids are cruel.
Edit: BMX 16" in halfords £90. (and i'm supposed to be cutting back to pay for summer childcare)0 -

WM i would look on eBay you can pick them up in excellent condition for about £10 cos they're pickup only. Sugar posted a link to leg measurements to bike sizes i'll try and find it. I have a 16" bike here that i'll prob freecycle cos it's not worth ebaying.
Then you could upgrade for a xmas pressieBesides, when DS was learning, his bike got flung on the floor and battered more than rode.

Hiya everyone! Not been on in a while, had a busy few days with lots changing with Holly. We had her 6 wk check yesterday. She now weighs 10lbs and shes outgrown most of her newborn clothes. I overbought a tad and now have a large bag thats going on freecycle!
We also went to a postnatal group this week which was really nice. I was sooo nervous about it as I find new social situations quite difficult to cope with but really glad I went.
Hope everybodys enjoying the same sunshine that we've got here. It totally took me by surprise. I travelled into Cambridge for a spot of shopping and had Holly all dressed up cos it was really grey. Ended up having to strip her off!.
I got us a little treat that was completely unneccessary and totally un-mse but its gorgeous and much better than our current one http://babymel.co.uk/product.php?shopprodid=37
Quick question- When can you start taking them swimming? Determined that Holly isn't going to be terrified of it like me. I didn't end up learning properly until I was at Uni and living with a lifeguard!0
