GRR I hate all the jealousy there is sometimes with kids, I have just joined the circle of mums thing and there is a thrad about babies talking (in the march 2010 community) and I posted saying that E can say mama, dada and baba, hes been saying them for about 2 weeks, of course he doesnt knw that I am mama etc and someone replied saying we are all on crack and our babies wont talk till they are one

Now I am not saying he is going to break out in convo with me lol but I even have him on video saying dada
How ridiculous - it's not like you said he was saying it with meaning. The reason those words mean those things is because they are sounds that babies are able to say very early on. We actually have a video of Alice saying "mama" when she was around three months but it was complete coincidence that she did it when OH was filming her, she didn't do it again for a long time and it's just the sounds that babies make.

Lol EA, I'm always telling Hubby the reason Caitlyn has no words is because she's fluid in chinese... ;)
A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...
Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.

Just to clear things up, I havent been involved in any nasty behind the scenes PM-ing. And to my knowledge there hasnt been any nasty beind the scenes PM-ing over the past couple of days either. A bit of food for thought there, for people assuming things that arent happening are happening! I cannot and will not apologise for having an opinion. That is all.
I didn't say anything about whether the behind the scenes PM-ing was nasty or not. Tara had said that people were discussing others behind their backs by PM and from your post it is clear that there have been discussions about MOTM either by PM or elsewhere so I just said that maybe this is what Tara was referring to. I didn't suggest that you personally were involved with it or that anyone had been sending nasty PMs.

  • Thanks Som, when are you due back?

Well it's a well known fact that crack makes babies talk early so what's their problem? ;):rotfl:

I might suggest that throughout life, in all areas, we will sometimes discuss people "when they are not present" or "without telling them about the conversation" - there's absolutely nothing wrong with doing so and it's the way life works.
If I am friends with someone, let's say Beenie for example, and we meet someone, say MFD, and think she is rather mean and intimidating, we're liable to discuss that after the meeting but not go to the effort of copying MFD in on our correspondence...

At worst this can come across as two-faced, but most of the time it's simple common courtesy. We're not obliged to like everyone we meet or interact with, but social niceties and the ability to maintain 'working relationships' (at work) or common discussion areas (like this forum) require that we don't automatically tell people every time when they are a little bit brusque, or come across as slow, or have mildly bad body odour, or seem very naive, or etc etc etc.
Most people only raise these topics directly when they are severe enough to impact on the ability to work together/discuss together/etc.

That doesn't mean that I'm not annoyed by SS's over-use of ellipses, or MM's obsession with eccles cakes, or MFD's bad grammar, or my bosses' tendency to use metaphors involving football, or whatever :p it just means it doesn't impact me severely enough to confront them about (and risk damaging the 'social mechanics' of the thread, or my working relationship with my boss) - and one of the many purposes of friendships is as a pressure valve, to let you vent about things without over-reacting or pushing for a confrontation.

Add to this that text as a communication medium is fraught with danger and capacity for misunderstanding.

So, anyone who would like to send scathing PMs about me to each other without copying me in should feel free :) this thread is a Very Good Thing(tm) and even if you are not enjoying it yourself, it should be obvious that other people are so think twice before ruining other people's good times!

    OI!

Why is it twice in 2 months I have been away and you lot cannot play nice? :p Only barely skimmed to catch the drift of what happened, but it does not sound nice and I think either some trolls were stirring up trouble or someone on here's a lot nastier than anyone should ever be. Either way, hope there's no flouncy leaving like last time as I'm always sad to see good people go. I miss Fitzio, csh and Becles alike from the last 'row' :( eta: Bruno makes a very good point, we all should stop being over-sensitive ninnies and listen to his wisdom :rotfl:. One needs a certain amount of thick skin for internet forum life anyway.

Saw that Miss Mollyfrog finally has teeth!! Jenny, how's Erin's gums looking? :D Finn has another 2 from last time I reported in (5 total), which I still find amazing given just over a month ago there were nill.

Still no internetz *huff*, but we get by. Stupid TV man can't come until Monday now so I'm double stuck and borrrrrred.

    Now play nice! :p

Aless & Bruno - both very well said, Im rubbish with words!

Aless - boo at lack of net and TV.

Kindof - one of my nephews first recorded words/sentance was "oh !F!!! it" not that he knew he was saying it lol. T just makes lots of general noise, she takes after her dad and likes the sound of her own voice.
