I'd just never thought to try her with a straw so I'm surprised especially since she is very much a bottle baby. Also I have some vague notion that straws are better than spouts? Anyway, if I find a cute one with fairies on I'll be getting it.

ETA, hammy, no idea, probably a case of as long as they are happy with water, they get water. She's never been interested in water or juice. It's only been the past few weeks she went off the formula milk that she started drinking juice at meal times. Now she's on cows milk we seem to have 3 milk times and 2 juice times.

Said it before and I'll say it again, Amber is completely different from the boys. Half the times I'm lost, half the times I'm bemused.

Molly only gets water and the house special too, hammy. She's been known to gaze longingly at my cups of tea, but I think that is because I am holding them and she would like to either be held or to be holding it too. I'm going to try the beastie with a straw though, it has to be better than the sippy cup - she likes to tip it into her mouth then chew her mouthful of water so most of it goes down her shirt.

  • Is it a family holiday/long weekend or a hen weekend? I am ever so slightly jealous :o

David just has water to drink (and house white :p) - at what age are babies supposed to start drinking juice?

It's a family weekend for my FIL's 60th. I am really looking forward to taking Henry in the pool though as I think swimming outside will blow his mind!

OH and I are booked into the spa tomorrow night and then for an Indian tomorrow night. I seriously cannot wait.

Henry only has water or milk too, and only ever water in a cup, milk from a booby or cup in the day, and a bottle or booby at night. I am a mean mummy :o!

  • Evening all, just a fleeting post as Im gonna go to bed at 8 and try and make up some sleep incase tonights the same as last night!!

Went into work this aftie and it was fine, I now have a list of my duties for when I start next week. T wouldn't have a nap this afternoon so I hope he is not overtired and that isn't part of why his nights are worse at the mo??

Hi Hammy!! I only give T water too, Im planning on keeping it that way bar maybe a cup of juice as a treat every now and again once he is over 1. Interestingly I noticed at his nursery they say they will only give water and milk.

Tia, They might be better than spouts because they place the liquid at the back of the mouth rather than by the teeth... But I don't think the drinking angle is great because they have to put their face down rather than tip their head back IYSWIM...

I got Aimee some of these for her lunch box... Caitlyn likes them too... http://www.amazon.co.uk/Thermos-Coolkidz-Fliptop-Beaker-360ml/dp/B001T9N0FI

Caitlyn only has water or booby juice... She only had the apple juice because it came in a kids meal and she wouldn't let the carton go lol...

  • Awww poor Liam * hugs* . Have you tried cutting all dairy out of Liam's diet? It sounds like what David is like when he has dairy....

    Aw, thanks hun.

I think cutting out dairy is the next logical step but I'm scared. Being FF, he's only had water and formula, until 1 when we switched to water and cows milk. I don't really want to give him toddler formula because thats the vanilla stuff but
if I don't give him cows milk, what do I give him???

ATM I'm mixing stage 2 formula (2oz) with 4oz goats milk, just to lessen the about he's getting and we've completly cut out yoghurts and cheese.

I have been lurking but not posting - David had a terrible reaction to an egg I ate a few days ago and he has been quite poorly :(. We had projectile vomiting, painful tummy and really bad eczema so I am going to withold trying goat's milk for now :(

I really hope David feels better soon...that's so much for a little un to go through. :( Are you ok?

I have no idea about UHT sorry. It is so hard seeing them suffer isn't it :(

    ((hugs)) Hammy & David.

Our GP told us to avoid eggs with Lily because of her Eczema and DHs hsitory of allergys. I hope he is ok otherwise xx

You can see the reaction straight away if Liam has egg - he gets a red rash round his mouth.

NMS, what formula is he on? Because apart from the soya ones, they're all cows milk based...

Just popping on to mention that my local Somerfield have Huggies nappies on BOGOF. Somerfield has been taken over by co-op, although they haven't 'converted' all the stores, but they do sell co-op products......sooooo, the same offer may be in co-op's??

Kids are back to school tomorrow, they are NOT happy, I bet they come home glowing though. As much as they moan about going, they enjoy it and miss their mates when on holidays.

I also just wanted to thank everyone for their kind words when I was going through a bit of a tough time after having T. I am pleased to announce that I am feeling much better (still have off days, but very few) AND more importantly, T is now 10wks old and I can say with certainty that I love her with all my heart, since she was about 8wks old I started having feelings towards her. I feel so guilty that it took so long and that I was so dismissive of her when she was born, I could barely bring myself to hold her, but now I don't want to put her down, I love her smiles, and the way she 'talks' at me, she is so beautiful too...I am a very lucky mum to have 4 such gorgeous children:) So again, Thank You all xx
