Hi all
What a palaver that's been going on here then!
Anyway, no point me raking over it, just want to say congrats to Molly for getting a tooth. My firend's baby was about 15 months before she got her first, then a load have come at once.
Been to see HV this morning as baby H still says nothing other than 'row-row' and lots of uh noises. She's recommended a chatter matters website - have done minimal googling and will do so more this evening but has anyone any experience of this? Have also got a physio referral as hubby thinks she's flat footed. Annoying HV agreed so that's one to him!
Am amazed at how unstressed I am at the lack of talking compared to where I was a few months ago. I'm convinced she just doesn't feel the need to talk, like she did with walking, which she only grasped recently.
Ho hum, have a nice afternoon.0 -
That's odd I just realised I hadn't seen Tara around on here. So she left? I miss everything! *needs to stay out of the arms*
I'm so undecided, I'm going to Leeds for my friends birthday party in October (the party is the 2nd) I was going to head down on the Friday but the cheapest train is about £35 (one way!) and that is with a railcard. Also, It takes 8 hours and I won't get there until 2am on the Saturday.
Idris mum has said she will babysit Keirabop, so I was thinking I might just fly down on the thursday night. I can get a flight with taxes etc for £52, and okay it is dearer than the train but It's also 7hours less!
I forgot to mention I am terrified of planes and will most likely scream and cry during takeoff and need an oxygen mask, or valium.
The thing issssssssssss, I phoned up to ask weather my provisional drivers license will do for ID (it will) and apparently I can only take 10kg of hangluggage in with me, or 20kg? But i have to pay £10 more and it goes in the hold. I'm so confused! Hang luggage has to be a certain width too?
I have a little pull along case that would probably work but I have my friends Bday gift to take down plus my costume plus 3 days + clothes / straighteners / make up/ shoes. It's not going to work!
Also his gift is quite big so I cant stuff it into my luggage! It wont fit in and zip up and blah!
What I COULD do, is post his gift next day delivery before I jump on the plane, Take my big holdall with all my crap, and my costume etc, and pay the £10 for it to go in the hold and then at least have my handbag on me on the plane? The woman said if I had a hangbag it had to go into my luggage? ONE THING ONLY! AHHHHHHHHHHHH
Maybe I should just get the train, but *pulls hair out*0 -
DK I have some chatter matters info I think, its just ideas for talking to kids, activies to d together and the like IIRC, I got the pack at the baby show I think.
Also I wouldn't worry about her feet, I got referred by the HV too, turns out you can't tell if a child is flat footed until they are around 3yrs so it was a bit of a wasted app (the physio we saw was lovely to us but I detected a bit of annoyance at the fact the HV/NN's were referring kids too young)0 -

Thanks for that, annoying about the talking we do all she was saying we should do - amusingly she said, 'don't focus on words like 'put' or 'in' focus on words like 'pen'' My reply- 'oh you mean nouns then?' Her - 'Um yes, nouns.' Sure it's just a matter of time.
I'm not worried about the feet either (I am so worry free at the moment!) but hubby is, has visions of her wearing calipers etc. So if it shuts him up, I'm all for it. Should be interesting as the appt should come through when i have a newborn. Maybe I'll just sent him to it!0 -
I thought they were all flat footed at this stage?!
DK... Caitlyn has no words either... Yesterday was the first time she made any sign that she was saying something other than Dada, Mama, ta ta, na na And she said "der" while pointing lol... I'm not worried either... I'm sure once she gets going she'll be like her big sister and never shut up...
BM, I'd get the train down with the present and your stuff in a small bag... Relax a bit, enjoy the peace and quiet... And get the plane back when less loaded down
A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...My Fathers Daughter wrote: »Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.

Sami, I think (hope) we have another month or so before the biting starts. Shes still happy to be transported about at will. She has started the willfull destruction thing though, spilling juice and splashing in it... laughing at you when you say no...
DK, Chris is flatfooted (which is a pain ontop of the hemi) and I think Amber may be the same. But like Sami said, there isn't much they do till about 3 years, same with speech. Does she go to toddler group or anywhere that she comes into contact with other children her age? Sometimes just seeing that little people like her talk helps them to start talking.
Can't find the chatter matter website? But its usually lots of looking at books and talking about the pictures, lots of talking at home and giving her space to answer. Most children don't really speak much till about 2 and then it can all come out at the one time, suddenly she is a chatterbox, so try not to worry about it.
ETA, Chris is flat footed like I said at age 5, he wears his toledoes mainly for his hemi. But all they are if she does need them, are little bits of plastic that go in the heels of her shoes. They are not big splints of anything and she can still wear pretty much all types of shoes. So even if it is a problem later on, nobody will actually know about it.0 -
Dribble, Keira wasn't a very good talker at your DD's age (18months ish?) all she used to say was mamamamama, and something like "EH or DAH" her first word was "Aye" and now she won't say that at all it's "YES"
Oh and she doesn't shurrup ever, I was on the phone earlier and she had her toy phone and was copying everything I said, so I started saying really random big words like tantamount, parliment, diplyodocus - and the wee moo can say them better than me.
I don't have the posh twang.
Omg yeah and on the bus some old perv sat behind us, now I KNOW he is a perv because when I was a kid he used to always hang around in the park with his ugly greyhound just watching us, he once took pictures of us playing rounders and uhm we never saw the pics!
Anyhoo millions of seats on the bus, no he sits behind Keira and trys to engage her in convo, I was like no way, off the bus we go! I know that guy has a thing for kids cause he used to perv on me as a child, so sod that off. He's harmless but he is creepy!0 -

We don't really get dada mama etc at the moment, well not at all in relation to what they should mean! But as you say, I will no doubt be willing her to shut up at some point soon.
Just waiting for some workmen to turn up to do something to my worksurfaces in my new kitchen, then that's almost it for work done on this house for the time being! Needless to say they are about 3 hours late already...0 -

Great advice, thanks! Will tell hubby not to worry! She goes to loads of toddler groups and nursery one day a week. She's even seen me praising other kids for saying words, and normally she loves praise, she just doesn't feel the need to speak! She's just a bit odd. But apparently her dad was the same...
Wow I've hogged this thread this afternoon, after not posting in weeks!0 -
Im thinking back now and Keira just used to make a bunch of high pitched shreiks or grunts when she wanted something. Like she'd hold up her juice cup and grunt. Also she had a dummy which made her speech a bit crap and lispy for a while when she eventually started talking. Wasn't until age 2 she started saying more and even then it was only me and her dad who could decipher it!0
