When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free :money:

Examples could be charging your phone up at work instead of at home to save your electricity, hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important :D:D

just starting us off - be back shortly to do my list ;)

    Gooood morning people:beer:
A lovely sunny day here, so must get cracking and make the most of it! I had a lovely lie in (was in bed at 9.15 last night and probably fast asleep by 10) so am quite awake today;)

Girls are with their dad, he's taking them to gym club, I'm picking them up and taking eldest dd to hairdresser, then he's taking them away again. DD2's back tonight so I cn take her to her gym competition tomorrow.

    Ok, must write a list:
    • check banking
    • daily scratch - 20p
    • washing is on quickwash
    • washing on the line
    • do a little ironing
    • sort college work - what can I make a start on assuming I need to finish it all by Aug:eek:
    • pay girls gym club fees - in my 'clubs account', all accounted for:T
    • ring up and activate my new Asda cc (got it for the free delivery oved £99)
    • meal from store tonight...maybe fish and chips from freezer?
    • enjoy the sun in the garden with my book
Won't be an NSD as need to pay for DD's haircut, but that'll only be about £14.
Ok, have a lovely day people:A
I really need to sort out a new signature!

Hi All, another lovely day... I could get used to this weather ;)

Not too big a list for this weekend for me I think:

made some HM meals for DD to freeze
    DD in reusables
    lunch and tea from stores/freezer
overpayment to CC with expenses from DH business that I have already paid for out of my account
some of DH accounts if I have time whilst DD is napping
check freecycle as put my garden table on there, but as it's my first post, it has to wait for moderator to be approved - now been 3 days and still not approved. :(
Bought TSV from QVC through quidco to use for present (s)
Update return to work budget as have had notification of FTC to be paid!
Keep an eye on eldest moggy who I had to take to the vets last night - was diagnosed as arthritis in knee, if medication doesn't work over w/e will need x-ray (have insurance, but, that's not the point, I just want him to be ok :(
Vet said, 'cats love the taste of this medication, they'll just take it from the syringe' :rotfl: Not my mog! took one look at the syringe and though you can get lost!!! resorted to putting it in food ;)

    Have a great w/e everyone :T:beer::j

    • Do 2 washes and dry naturally - done
    • Walk dog for free exercise (done 1 already) - done 2
    • Do food shopping and try to stay within budget using a list (£40) - £39.74!
    • Buy toiletries for hols - not go mad like I usually do just buy essentials - only bought shampoo and coditioner and shower gel, have stuff in the house to cover the rest
    • Go to OH family BBQ tonight (free tea)
    • Hoover and dust house - done but hoover appears to have given up the ghost - grrrr! It' sonly a few months old!
    • Try to have a LSD apart from the food essentials - ok so far
    • Work on budget for July - hmmm, still not easy
    • Think about things to ebay
    • Catch up on recorded soaps - done
    • Do any surveys that come -done 1 and got chucked out
    • Check banks - done
That's all for now so better get cracking!

Not doing too badly, just about sneaked in under £40 for food and toiletries (real budget is £45 so have saved over a fiver this week, not much but I suppose it all helps!)
Have also transferred my "wages" for July from savings account to current account - not getting paid this month and then a big payday in August - not very helpful!

It's very quiet here today - where is everyone?

    Hi All

    ...hi Rachel, I'm here :D.

Lovely weather again today. I've been out for my first run (technically it's a slow jog :rotfl:) in ages today. It was quite hard going in this heat, but the wind helped to keep me a bit cooler. Pleased with myself as my motivation has been quite low recently :o.

Other than the 'run', I've done very little, just a bit of HC, so going to post my list up and get my rear into gear!

So, today (or tomorrow), I will:
    • Check bank and update spreadsheet
    • Check freebies/low spends boards for bargains
    • Do some comps
    • Surveys
    • Costco monthly shop & keep to budget
    • Fill a bag to take to the CS on Monday
    • More HC, line dry & ironing
    • All food from stores
    • Put at least five things on ebay
    • Chase up refund from ebay seller - they're ignoring my emails
    • General clean of all the bedrooms
That's all I can think of for now, think it's enough to keep me going :).

    Been
    Full LBM 26 Sept 11
  • Hi Everyone,
Not been writing regularly for a while but getting on and reading everyones posts when I can. Hope all ok..

Had a few very very tough weeks, work is very difficult, Head of service has gone off long term sick, I'm deputy which has meant that I'm doing my job and my bosses. No support is in place so i'm on my own. I work within the council and our finances are a mess which means I need to sort them by january in order to keep everyones jobs ( about 50 staff) I know this is priority but am just sinking undr the pressure - and keeping a positive face on to all staff is draining but important.
My partner says walk away its not worth it ( i cry all the way home each night having worked lots of overtime and just dont want to talk about work to my Oh , i'm exhausted) he talls me to walk away, and i knwo i'm not indispensible but i also knwo the relity is that if i dont' stay and sort things out lots of people will lose their jobs. The other side is that if i change my job ( i could go back to what i did before which is teaching) i'll take a pay cut which will mean pushing my debt free date back and I cant bare the thought of it being even further away. ...

Moan over... with that in mind I worked today until 3pm and am spending the rest of today and all of tomorrow trying to relaxx and get rid of the permanant chest pain i have from stress and anxiety ready for monday. My OH has tidied and cleaned everywhere today and is sorting everythign out so i don't have to do anything - for whihc i am so greatful.

I'm sorry for the long rant - Just wanted to share why i'm not posting all the time,I'm struggling a lot, spending money on take away food which is neither good for my health weight, wellbeing or my pocket but am jsut about gettign by at the moment so not worrying about things if i can ignore them!!

Have still been thinking a lot about savign / paying off debt - have taken a suit jacket back to Next today - bought it for an important presentation but ordered the wrong colour / style to go with the trousers I'd bought - funny really but typical of me at the moment!! so thats££60 back in my account, Also have ordered shopping to come from Asda - goign to give it a go as got £7.50 off from voucher code on here( covers the delivery charge of £3.50 and antoher 3 Pounds off).. Its coming tuesday and takes the pressure off me going to shop this weekend and keeps the cost to exactly what i want to spend... - in budget £50 ( i'm only shopping every other week) Have also started stokin gup on buy on e get one free etc anything that carries VAT - storing in my gargage!!

ok... hugs to all who follow , and to those who have already posted.
