kwik fit do mots on a sunday usually if your desperate although they are often good at finding imaginary faults.

or you could take the chance if everything else is in order last I checked it was only a £20 fine no points

Last time I looked, the £60 FPN was for endorsable offences only.

The penalty for having no MOT is exactly the same as having no road tax (a maximum fine of £1000).

n answer to your question not having an MOT is a non endorsable ticket with a £60 fine. It is cheaper to get the MOT done by a garage than pay the fine so get it done or put the car off the road. It is not rocket science.

but here states up to £1000 (and is more recent)

finally found it on the DVLA site

    http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/TravelAndTransport/Highwaycode/DG_069870

    up to £1k it seems

    though there is also

    LGV £5,000

    PCV £5,000

    Other £2,500

I don't see any reason not to book it for the mot and call in on the way.Worst case scenario is it fails and you find out exactly what needs doing with the option of having it fixed at that garage.Best case is it passes and you drive home.
