me too, I love boots, thankfully nearly all of my shopping is done second hand (charity shops, carboots, jumble sales, ebay etc) so I can have a good shop but not spend too much, but I need to move away from 'treating' myself in this way as regular as I do

    Me too.

I do sales and discount codes but I still spend a silly amount on clothes.

I did buy a Reiss jacket in a charity shop for a fiver a couple of weeks back. I was walking by and did a double take.............

I was in there like Flynn:cool:

The thing is, for women, clothes are how we express ourselves. Or for me anyway

I dont run myself into debt or anything silly like that but I do spend far more than I need to.

    It makes me feel good:o

If its winter time- a bunch of flowers or a pot plant.
A trip to the charity shops (our Sense has a very cheap range of jewellery- can pick up some nice pieces), buy a cheap bag of Thortons misshapes, body creams- more expensive than usual and phone several friends! Or arrange to go out with a friend in the following few days......

and I forgot to say..........on a beautiful sunny morning to take my dogs down to a deserted beach at low tide to blow all the cobwebs away! It's a nice drive there and we are all in our element- miles of sand and a clear blue sky

    Hi,

I recently did a poll about how you treat yourself but found the options quite restrictive and would be nice to know how others treat themselves. :)

Think i must be boring as i think a treat for myself is my Now magazine and a shandy :rotfl:

I'm telling a lie, i actually feel buying make up and stuff a treat but others may see it as essentials...we are all so different aren't we. Would be nice to nosey in other people's treats.

Sushi, a chick lit book, or make-up, perfume or clothes from ebay (but only if they're a bargain), some facial jewellery (from an online place in Asia - more choice and cheap)

    regards CWR

Mine is pretty lame, I TRY to go running every night (cough cough) but after Ive been I go for a hot bath and later use some fancy footcream that makes my feet tingle for a few secs!!!lol

my treat for eating is a chinese takeaway averaging maybe once a month if that?? I don't really like sweet things:)

Being on a DMP, niether DH or I have treats very often. Anything we 'need', whether it be an electrical item for the house, or items for the garden projects we have ongoing, we have to wait and wait until we've saved enough money for it. But we appreciate it so much more when we can eventually get it because we've had to wait.

Health-and-Beauty wise, I allow myself £10 every couple of months for cosmetics or perfume, saving it up if there's something more than £10 that I want.

I think its really hard to find treats which really feel like treats and are affordable, if something is too expensive (and it is all too often) by buying it I'd land myself no money to pay bills and additional stress- this would not be a treat it would be a nightmare!

So treats I think are when you do spend accordingly and everything works- the treat is the feeling of relief when everything gets paid on time, no over-the-limit-bank-charges and enough money to buy food at full price (rather then reduced). It doesn't always happen, it can so easily go wrong if for example I use the phone too often or use too much hot water/heating so I really value it when everything works out. This I think is the reward in itself.

I'd say other rewards were when I get bought deluxe haircare products for Christmas/Birthday, stuff I'd otherwise not buy. I do surveys and cash in vouchers at a time of a crisis (when all my clothes do not fit or I am feeling really low) but generally try to save so even spending them has a sense of disappointment- I could have saved more if I were not spending them...etc etc.
Neither of those options has the same sense of relief that the first option does. None has the same sense of accomplishment either.

    Sad aren't I?!

My 'treats' (after lots of thinking!) either involve the luxury of time, or the reward of having money I can afford to spend on myself.

So going clothes shopping by myself is a real treat (doesn't happen very often!) I don't always have to buy much - it's partly having the time to be able to look at things I like.

Having 'me' time - painting my nails or going to the hairdressers are things I enjoy.

Having money to be able to spend on cosmetic-type treats is always nice - doesn't have to be much but nice smelling things are always a treat, so splashing out a little on a new perfume, a body moisturiser, a new shower gel always cheers me up.

Also having money to be able to spend on things for the house - again it doesn't have to be much but cheering up our surroundings , particularly with splashes of colour, always has a positive effect.

Clothes and/or handbags! I have got quite a few from treats, but to be honest I do tend to buy them in the sales and sometimes put them away and bring them out when I am feeling down and fancy something new. I love the John Lewis sale as it really reduces the bags/purses instead of just a few pounds off.
I do enjoy sushi for lunch too and I have an excuse now as I have been told I need to up my iodine in my diet and that was the only thing I could think of that is iodine rich!
