Took the pork hock out of my bean jar with some difficutly as it fell apart on me! But it only cost me £1.20 as it was reduced (then we froze it) and there was loads of meat on!
It's soooooooo nice...I keep picking at it :rotfl: So pork hock is cheap, well worth getting...but make sure you cook it well!

Fed 6 of us with seconds and enough to save for at least 2 more bowls but DH decided to eat it all!
Got mine from one of the supermarkets, was about £2.50 reduced to £1.20. It is quite fatty but when it's well cooked you get peel all the fat off and feed it to the dog/cat, the fat and bone though add to the cooked taste...and it's still got lots of meat onFluttering about an inch off the ground, I may fly properly one day and soar in the clouds!

Ham hocks are £1.30 each from my butcher. Two cooked gave me over 700g of lean meat for quiches etc.0

Just received the most beautiful free range smoked gammon hock (well 3 of them but 2 are in the freezer). I weighs 1.7 kilo's and looks more like a leg of lamb to me (only cost £1.80).
I want to make the most of it. My children lurve bacon/ ham/ gammon so I am thinking I will put some aside to put in dishes for them but it still leaves me with a massive lump of meat!
I would be grateful for any ideas or recipes?0
