I can never understand people who buy from Comet, Currys and the like. I always go to John Lewis. Excellent service with staff who know what they are selling, and five year free guarantees with every TV and free delivery. Why go anywhere else?

Well I've eventually received a Claim Form from this Monster Cable International. To be honest it looks like a claim form written on the back of a fag packet.

Anyway I've emailed it to them this morning and told them that legal action will still be pursued with Comet on 14 July 2010 as it has been a clear breach of the Sales of Goods Act.

Judging by the claim form I'm not hopeful on their response as it doesn't seem a professionally run company. Please be wary of purchasing anything from Monster even when chatting with a sales rep in Conmet he was having difficulties with them.

comet are w***ers, i tried to return a vaccum cleaner after it broke for the third time whilst still under 1 year old, they do not recognise the sale of goods act or the law in this country, the worst customer care i have ever experienced and i will never spend anything in there stores ever again, its a complete joke as it was over a £70 item(which its not realy worth going to court for IMO), but i am confused as to how a surge from lightning got from the telephone line to your tv through a surge protector? your phone line isnt connected to your mains electric supply is it?

    Hi JokerDurden,

My name’s Matt and I’m from Comet.

I was concerned to learn of the problems that you are experiencing with your Monster surge protector. I was also disappointed to learn that you have not received the claim form that you where previously promised, which has resulted in a further letter been sent.

Therefore, as I would like to take ownership of this issue, and investigate further please send me an email at the link below, which includes your purchase details.

You will need to register a few details with us to be able to send your e-mail in.

    Thanks

    Matt

dear Matt, please either help people out or bog off from this forum, every time somebody complains your name POPS up like magic as if you actually care, stop plaguing this forum and make sure your time is spent explaining the sale of goods act and the LAW to the other people in your company, maybe you would care to sort this problem and all the others out on a public forum instead of trying to get people to go onto youw website where people cannot see how completely useless and law breaking your colleagues are, you take peoples hard earned money and then refuse to do anything when there are any issues, its not just a one off either is it?, use the search facility on this forum and type in "comet sales of goods" and there are many, many issues with your company, please go away if all you are is a plonker who pretends your interested in order to save face, i cant see anybody on here who you have actually helped out

    Hiya Kaya.

The Surge Protector also has a cable running from the BT Box into the surge protector. This is where the surge came into it.

I reported his post as abuse as it seemed to me its just a company rep trying to make it look like Comet were interested and trying to look after the customer. Read various posts by this rep and a number have been unresolved.

    I've been Money Tipped!
Keep this simple and deal ONLY with Comet. It may be quicker to sue via the small claims route, but I would sent them a final letter giving them 14 days to sort it before commencing action. I can't believe Comet wouldn't sort this once threatened, their time and costs to follow this up would not make it worthwhile. Keep copies of everything and if you need to sue - it's very cheap and you will recover all costs when you win - look here: https://www.moneyclaim.gov.uk/web/mcol/welcome

    Good luck,

Many thanks Lynsey, that letter was sent on the 30 June 2010 so they have until 14 july 2010 before the ball starts rolling. I used to be a 'just accept it' sort of person but they have seriously due to their lack of After Sales annoyed me.

If they had taken their time to help with the claim within reasonable time then I would have been content that they were doing something about it. But from reading various posts about Conmet it seems they lack interest in After Sales and have the 'Can't be bovvered' approach.

lol, i tried all that, comet dont care about the sale of goods act, all they are interested in is their company policy, i threatened them, i repeated the sale of goods act word for word to them on the phone, i did the same to the manager/team leader, they believe they are above the law it seems, and all the comet rep is doing is attempting to remove the criticism from the public arena , comets policy is not to admit anything or pay out on anything until it gets to court and they have no choice, disgusting behaviour from a multi million pound company
