Very interesting to read that, dacouch. Totally unethical behaviour and worrying that they have duped supposedly quality newspapers into promoting them.

They published reports prior to the offer as follows.

Note the writer of the article declared an interest as he founded a similar website to Groupola (He co founded the infinately superior https://www.hotukdeals.com).

    http://www.bitterwallet.com/groupola-99-iphone-shenanigans-continue/31656

It's worth reading bitterwallet everyday as they publish a great consumer website with their own warped humour. It's a lot like marmite as you will either love their writing style or hate it.

I have just had a warning from Hot Deals because I voted cold on too many deals - mostly Groupola/My City deals. What with the MSE My City sunglasses thing and HDUK threatening me with banning, I am feeling a little disillusioned with both sites at the moment. They both must generate huge amounts of money when you click through the link to buy the deals, and I am starting to feel that they are putting that above any concerns for their members.

I don't see the need for these sort of deals to be posted at all - people can go to the website if they are interested. I have pretty much stopped reading Grabbit as the deals are usually irrelevant to me, but posting a Groupola deal is a bit like people posting which veg is half-price this week at Tesco - there's always something, you don't need to post every deal.

That's pretty big pwnage as the geeks would say. It just reflects the level of skanks that Groupola employ.

I too was sat on groupola from 9:15 waiting for 9:30 I tried for two and a half hours until I read somewhere that they had sold out. I think what happend was there was only 200 phones with so many users it crashed the website but I don't know how any one managed to get a phone in the two and a half hours I was sat there because I either got page cannot be displayed or that bloody photo deal.

I have been using mycitydeals for a few months now and not had one problem yet I've bought photobooks, canvases, teethwhitening, spa days, hair dressing deals, the chocolate deal from last week. They know what they are doing more than groupola atleast they give you the deal they advertise and they also hold their hands up when there is something wrong. Not like groupola.

I would love to see if anyone actually really got the Iphone other than groupoola staff

I dont know if this makes any difference but i signed up to the London deal for the iphone4. I was having no luck at all (page kept timing out or i would get redirected to the homepage). I saw someone posted on the Facebook page a screen shot of the payment page (to prove that some people where getting through). I noticed that the web address they had was for Wolverhampton. So i tried that address instead and got through after about 2 mins. I did this because i remembered from the KGB cinema deal a few months ago that people couldnt get through for some of the cities, but could for others.

Anyway, i managed to get an iphone. Saying that, i havent heard anything from them since last friday so im going to be getting on to them about that tomorrow.

Did you get an Iphone? Almost a week later, people had put comments on various websites saying that they got their Iphones within 2 hours of ordering them they turned out to be staff though.

No not yet. I contacted them on weds and they said that it was being sent on thurs so i will get it on friday, but nothings turned up. I just got my bf to give them a ring (ive got no credit left on my phone and i dont want to top it up as the iphone wont take my current simcard) and apprently its being sent out today, by recorded delivery. So we shall see if anything turns up. Im not particulary confident tbh.

Also, i was expecting to get an email to let me know its been sent and maybe a tracking number or something, but ive had nothing, so im not confident that it has been sent out today (if they even have the phones to send out).
I dont mind waiting for it as its such a good deal, but i would be nice to be kept informed about whats happening, so far i have had to do all the chasing. So much for the next day delivery they promised, eh!
