Groupola iPhone offer - absolute scam, disgusting ethics

A week or so ago, I found a link in the "Quick Grabbit" board to a Groupola offer. All you supposedly had to do to get an iPhone 4 for £99 was to sign up with them and click on a link today (Friday 2nd July) at 9:30am!

Now I know that some things are too good to be true, I know this phone retails at around £500 sim free, but I wanted to try this Groupola offer as it looked perfectly genuine.

I had my computer time up and was watching every second nearer the time, I clicked the link at exactly 1 second past 9:30am, and lo and behold nothing loaded, I tried again and again and the same errors.

I was watching comments about the deal on Facebook and see nobody got through, I think its disgusting to advertise an offer like this and then not follow through, a marketing trick to get your details, I'll unsubscribe to them now and never visit them again.

I bet nobody got hold of the offer as advertised

Just to make it clear I'm just posting this to warn others about Groupola's dirty way of doing business, I don't expect any compensation etc... :j

it's always possible that they underestimated the demand and the servers collapsed under all the load.

I realize that, but that's the excuse they will use to get out of it, I would like to see proof that ANYONE at all actually managed to load and buy the deal. I think it was never there in the first place! :(

I too waited patiently for 09.30 this morning only to find that there was a fault every time I clicked on the links. I have not been able to get onto the groupola.com website in the last 2 days let alone in the last hour. I understand the demand may have been higher than expected etc etc but clearly there have been problems with the site yesterday before this so called deal went live. Very disappointing, Poor show Groupola.

It would be great to hear if anyone actually managed to get one of these deals....
  • My children told me to buy and then sell to make them holiday money!! I thought it too good to be true but was interested on testing the offer. Also same problem.Does any one know anything good about this so called business?

Seems a load of rubbish to me too - I clicked the link at dead on and was expecting a page saying sorry not successful.

Instead I got a 4 minute wait before being sent to a half-loaded ad for a pampering photo session.

Have these people not heard of services like akamai? Saying we did not anticipate demand is not an answer. The trouble is their site is now so flaky you can't even unsubscribe.

If I had been presented with a polite "sorry you missed out" page immediately I'd probably have let them keep my details (although I did use an easily disposable email address). As it stands the shoddiness of their handling of this leaves a very bad taste and would put me off any promises or offers they send in future
