Cheaper exhausts are noisier, it may be a case of just getting used to it. However if there is a vibration through the car or a drumming sensation, it has been wrongly routed/fitted so take it back and ask them to fix.

OH had this on a Citroen Saxo . The new cheap exhaust was louder than the original it replaced . But it was about half the price of what Citroen wanted for a new exhaust . for that kind of saving we could live with it .
Better in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:

Actually it was Selectatyre the Stockport branch.

I took it back, they couldn't see a problem but explained its because they obviously use a cheaper brand and if i want it quieter the best place to go is Renault.

I also took it somewhere else an independent garage and they said it had been fitted right and could see no other problems.

I had a figure of £250 in my head of what i could afford and knew it needed tyres so thought anything left over could pay for a tyre or 2. As it happens i could afford the 3. They said the last one was usable but would need replacing sooner rather than later, which i already knew as my MOT 11 months ago said the tyres would need sorting and i just hadn't sorted it.

So no I didn't have my hat nailed on i asked for the tyres too.

No it does not. The fibres inside the exhaust boxes will gradually get covered in soot, which will deaden the sound. If I'd meant that the OP would gradually get used to it, I'd have said that.

You know what you are talking about. The other guy??, well, let him belive what he wants. :)

Exhausts soot up, form rust on the inside too, all goes to deadening the resonance. ;);)
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed

cheap exhaust = louder noise as they use less materials in the silencer.

water dripping from the exhaust = normal moisture inside the exhaust has to go somewhere or it will rot from the inside out. as the exhaust gets hot the joint expands and seals.

sooting up of the fibreglass packing inside the silencer makes the noise quieter = not exactly true. the sound waves need to pass through the fibreglass which absorbs the noise. if they soot up this ability is lost. plus as the car is used the galssfibre gets hot and breaks down making it lose the noise absorbing abilities
