Not sure about Padstow, but there is a site at Porth outside Newquay which is around 100 metres from the beach. Think there are a couple in Mawgan Porth too which is slighly closer to Padstow but again it is nearer Newquay.
  • Just chipping in to say that we also stayed at Hendra last year, we have a self converted campervan, didn't use electric hookup, and paid £25 per night for 2 adults.. I assumed that was the set price for the pitch (we were pitched in along with tents) but could be wrong.

I still thought it was still pretty reasonable considering how good the facilities are there!

For Padstow, check out Harlyn Bay to Treyarnon really.

Porth is a lovely spot, stayed in an apartment right on the beach in May. The beach never seemed to get crowded and it has everyhting you need. The campsite is just across the road from the beach so you wouldnt have to go in the car. They dont allow dogs on the beach in case you have one. Hope you find something OP.
  • hi, try music water campsite, i have found it way cheaper than any other campsite and always seems to have availability, and even though you have to drive to the beach everyday, each time you pay £3 car parking for the day, the campsite is alot more than £3 cheaper per night, therefore it still works out cheaper overall.

Have a look here https://www.ukcampsite.co.uk, they list lots of campsites, and there are really good reviews too. I've certainly found it to be very helpful. Elm Farm is my favourite, it's very basic if that's what you want, but stunning.http://www.cornwallcycletrails.com/accomodation at elm farm cornwall.htm, and also Chy Carne, but that is likely to be very busy from now until September. Good luck!

    Hi guys,

Thanks all very much for your help, Im still looking, anything that looks remotely reasonable is always booked up when I ring.... Im still trying, ringing around like mad lol

The most helpful site was the Cornwall Tourist Information site which had a whole list of all the campsites and I just started ringing around.

Im off to do more hunting now, I just need to find a nice cheap field that only charges for the unit and not all the extra people :-(

This works out at £28.50 per night, whilst very good, I dont really want to pay £200 for a piece of grass - wouldnt mind if we were getting some accomodation for our money but were taking our own tent!! does anyone else find this really maddening?

Ooo that Elm Farm does look good! I have sent them an enquiry, I cant see anything about electric so I am presuming they dont have it for the camping field??

I think Haven just charge per pitch rather than per person - which for us is NOT what we want as there are only 2 of us! You could look at maybe Perran Sands if they take tourers?
