what is said above corelates a bit with what one person i know at work says about his x10 being very buggy.

anyway hope the situation improves with the froyo update due in a couple of weeks for the x10 as per pocketnow today. straight jump from 1.6 to 2.2 android skipping 2.1 android!

Agree totally. The good thing is though is that it'll charge off any USB-Micro USB lead so I usually ended up having it plugged into my work PC. On Android Forums people have mentioned this as an excellent item to carry (obviously not all the time though!) - I'm tempted to try one myself.

Sadly, pretty much all smartphones these days suffer with bad battery. Most of the issue is that you tend to spend so long browsing on them etc more than anything.

Yeah, sadly this is a generic thing across all smart phones "the 1 day battery life"

Have you tried any battery saving techniques? Particulary screen brightness. The screen sucks a HUGE amount of power out of the device

Screen brightness can be reduced down to 10% indoors but needs 50% outdoors under a bright and sunny day. A good app for adjusting screen brightness is the Quick Settings app or the Dazzle Configurable Switcher.

samsung does not have pinch and zoom when browsing web pages which the desire does which for me is quite important

If you're left-handed, an iPhone 4 isn't for you yet.

How come - surely its like any other phone as its touch screen? I'm a leftie and have a desire (and have used an ipod touch and have had no probs).
Using my phone to post - apologies in advance for any typos

holding the phone in the left hand is more likely to cause the signal problem, you are more likely to bridge the aerials against the palm of your hand.

If it's anything like the Xperia X1 build quality is pretty damn poor for a smartphone.

I got an X1 in January last year.... on my 5th now, and it's damaged just like the rest of them (cracks on battery housing from when it is charging and using GPS software as it gets VERY hot) and random cracks appearing on the casing which aren't from drops

Shame that SE built up a reputation on candybar style phones of having very good build quality but it's rapidly gone downhill over the past few years, and the software update situation has been terrible (was meant to get 6.5..... never arrived despite being very capable)

Same reason I decided against the Samsung Galaxy S (could have got it on a cheaper + better tariff), the software support is dire.

The Desire is my choice (or the Motorola Droid X if it reaches the UK or the Droid 2) or wait a little while for a new HTC phone to come out :)

I tried the iPhone, had a 2G and had an iPod touch, there seems very little improvement, screen did look better.... but not £3-400 on contract better!

all the big usa networks are selling the samsung galaxy s as per reports or are planning on stocking it and samsung has said it will get froyo although hasnt specified when. the reviews have been good. see electric pig reviews for a detailed review on that phone. i cant say about quality as havent had a samsung, but they do make good TVs and supply screens for many devices for most other companies. they supply the screens for the desire as well i think and are responsible for the amoled delays! probably one of the reasons why htc are thinking of using another supplier for future phones and dropping out of amoled screens for future htc phones due to the delays in amoled supplies rendering htc unable to meet demand for htc phones everywhere.

i wasnt happy with my SE phones and wont be keen on buying one anytime in the near future unless the come out with a really really good phone.

ps: the samsung galaxy s pro is due for release later this year, this comes with a hardware qwerty keyboard as a slide out from reports.

pps: motorola has a 2GHz android device in the pipeline as well.
