IOS 4 has already been jailbroken, so I assume it's just a matter of time before the ip4 is jailbroken.

Why use something I feel the need to jailbreak? Because I can lol. I like to faf with things, if I get the HTC I'll mess with the firmware, plus jailbreaking gives you access to cydia, and once again a whole more heap of apps.

The battery on thr HTC wont bother me, as I'm used to an iphone battery and I doubt it can get worse lol.

I'll have to have a play with all three and see which I prefer.

iphone 4 and the latest ipads have been jailbroken already,ip4 jailbreak not available on tinternet as yet currently being tested should be soon.been told will be released same time as the latest 3gs jailbreak.

what you need to do is look at all 3 phones features etc and decide which is best for you, posting your question on here is always going to generate posts saying iphone is best, desire is best or x10 is best.
the fact each person will think a particular model of phone is best based on their own specific needs/wants.
me personally it is a 3gs jailbroken at present but come upgrade time it will more than likely be ip4 unless something comes out before dec/jan time that suites me better.

If you're left-handed, an iPhone 4 isn't for you yet.

The x10 has a poor battery which is a shame. SE have come leaps and bounds since the problems with the C905.

i have 2 desire phones and i like them, they are very customisable even without rooting. some apps may be missing from the android market, but most have alternate versions on the android market.

if you need proxy support then do not look at android for now, although i can see some work arounds are available but dont know how good they are.

if you need flash support then forget iphone.

but the samsung galaxy s looks like a phone with better specs and super amoled screen, better graphics processor, front facing camera etc. the gamaxy s is without htc sense but has swype preinstalled.

what ever be the state on the old samsungs, this samsung galaxy s is definitely worth a look in my book. have a look at the videos available on youtube comparing the video processing power and screen in sunlight etc among other things and decide what suits your needs best. if i was buying now i am not so sure i might have bought the desires, i might have jumped for the samsung galaxy s or one of each.

i am not an iphone person as used to get irritated seeing the lag of the 3gs accessing the net and no flash etc and they are expensive. i dont mind paying more so long as i can decide which network i stay on or which country i use the phone in etc. this may or might not be an issue on the iphone4 but that phone doesnt interest me although it does look cool.

oh i wouldnt buy the x10, i know people who bought it and regret it everyday! (poor battery, android 1.6, buggy screen not responsive and generally !!!!!! as per the person i know who has the x10)

I've had a HTC Desire for a month now and love it with the exception of the battery life!

    Thanks.

As johnnyroper said, I'm just gonna have to figure out which suits my needs better. Was just interested in what others saw as the pro's and cons of the phones.

Sorry but I've had a few Samsungs, hated them all and got rid within a month, all my friends have had Samsungs at some point and I've disliked all those too, Samsungs are just not for me.

Friend has just ordered the x10 so I can have a play with that once it's here, just need to find someone with a HTC to let me play with lol.

There are some excellent demo's of the HTC Desire on Youtube - so you can get a taste for how it runs. The other minor comparison to the iPhone is the glass isn't quite so smooth to run your hand over while browsing, but that really is been picky!

Know what you mean about Samsung's. I didn't like them because of the UI's more than anything and I heard someone say that they should stick to making the screens for other manufacturers phones - they truly are superb. Fortunately with Android you can replace whatever UI comes with the phone with many of the ones available in the market and also on Modaco and XDA developers. The one on the Galaxy S does look like a bit of a rip off of the iPhone's UI.

I have kept HTC Sense though.

Agree totally. The good thing is though is that it'll charge off any USB-Micro USB lead so I usually ended up having it plugged into my work PC. On Android Forums people have mentioned this as an excellent item to carry (obviously not all the time though!) - I'm tempted to try one myself.

Sadly, pretty much all smartphones these days suffer with bad battery. Most of the issue is that you tend to spend so long browsing on them etc more than anything.

I have an X10 and I'd guide anyone thinking of buying one away from it. I've had mine 3 months now...I say that but I mean I've had AN X10 for 3 months. I'm currently waiting for my 4th phone (3rd replacement) due to everyone having the same fault. It hangs up in the middle of calls! As far as phones go that's pretty crucial. The battery life is poor, the UI is lovely but, jerky and slow to operate, though it does do exactly what it says and brings all the social networking stuff together well. It's to the point now where Orange have said if I get problems with this one they're sending tomorrow, I can pick another phone instead as they can see from their call records I'm having to ring ppl 6 or 7 times to complete a conversation.
