November Wedding Guest

My boyfriends best friend is getting married in November and was waiting for a sale to find a dress. My boyfriend is part of the wedding party, and although I am not, I would like to find a dress that doesn't clash with the tartan in his kilt.

I originally wanted to wear Purple but the bridesmaids are in Aubergine lol

I now have my heart set on a Midnight blue dress. I had my eye on one for ages in Debenhams.

It came up on the blue cross sale today and I got the last one! :T But now I'm thinking, is it too dark a colour for a wedding????

I've never been to a winter wedding and would love everyones opinion.

Here it is:

That's a bridesmaid dress, eek! lol

If you match your OH, then you will look like part of the wedding party.

Will the bride and groom be OK with that?

    I don't think it's too dark though and it's a lovely dress x

I don't think it's too dark for a wedding but if you're concerned, get your OH to check with the bride :)

    Thanks!

Yeh technically it's in the bridesmaid section but it's also just in the special occassion section. It's a prom dress and most of the reviews for it haven't been used as a bridesmaid dress.

I will only match one colour in his kilt and will not match the bridesmades or his tie at all so shouldn't look like part of the party

Dress it up with silver or gold accessories ( including a shrug after all it will be November!)and that will lighten the colour!
It's a gorgeous dress I think your boyfriend will be proud to have you on his arm. xx

I have beautiful bargain silver nina shoes and matching bag that I thought of wearing along with it and also have a faux fur silver/grey shrug/jacket I also thought of wearing.

I will maybe buy a silver flower corsage and change the one of the dress to that?

Oooh sounds gorgeous! You'll have to post a pic!
I don't think, with those accessories, anyone would mistake you for a bridesmaid! ;)

Thank you! that has boosted my confidence in the dress again. Hopefully when it arrives it will be what I hope it is :D

I was also going to suggest the accessorising to dispell the "bridesmaid" look.
Silver sounds lovely - and would go really well with that dress.
Why does nobody say Thank You anymore??

I'm not all that concerned that I'm going to be mistaken as a bridesmaid as they are wearing aubergine dresses :)

I've always thought to myself that darker colours aren't for weddings, but I wouldn't want to go with a summer dress on! I've never been to a wedding that 's not been in the summer so started to panic lol

Hope you want an honest answer ... i think it DOES look like a bridesmaid dress and will do even MORE if you match the kilt colours.... you will ALSO risk looking as if you are maid of honour as you will match the wedding party, be wearing what looks very much like a BM dress as brides often put their chief bridesmaid in a different colour to still match the party BUT different to the normal bridesmaids.....

I would personally as a bride to be, be rather miffed that you have tried to "co-ordinate" yourself with the wedding party.... maybe i am being bridezilla....depends on the bride i guess!

To be honest, as a prom dress, or whatever i still think it is rather over the top as a normal wedding guest and personally i would never wear anything that showy to someones wedding!!!

But its each to their own - just hope u have an easy going bride lol....i think the colour would be fine just NOT that particular dress. And yeah, dark colours are fine... lots of people wear black to weddings and accessorize etc

Again, sorry if u are offended by my answer etc!

Baldrick, does it have to be this way? Our valued friendship ending with me cutting you up into strips and telling the prince that you walked over a very sharp cattle grid in an extremely heavy hat?
